Smudge
A very interesting post by Lazurus yesterday, regarding promotion from Div 1,the way I read it was that no Div 1 side is gauranteed promotion to the CCL Premier at the end of this Season. It is not the Leagues responsibilty to allocate Promotion, but the F.A.s.The decision will be made after the Season finishes, depending on how many Clubs at Step 4 finish in a relegation spot in the CCL Area.Currently Ashford Town(middx),Chertsey Town,North Greenford,Fleet Town,Guildford City, could be relegated, all of which were promoted from the CCL,and if the were so moved back to the CCL.that would make for a 24 Club leagueallowing for 3 Relegated Clubs. This would not take into consideration the 3 Clubs in CCL 1 who for the first time ever, happen to have the Grade making 27.So I will ask this question, what powers do the CCL Committee have to make sure 3 Div 1 Clubs get promotion,it seems to me like NONE.This beggars the question are they just lap dogs to the F.A. Surely,So the Membership Fee that is paid yearly by Clubs,is wasted especially by CCL 1 Clubs. So as the title of the thread says MONEY DOWN THE DRAIN ,along with any money spent on Ground Improvements to get promotion.A DISGRACE. Smudge
To add insult to injury,4 CCL1 Clubs have reached County Cup Finals this season, namely Bedfont and Feltham,Staines Lammas,Spelthorne Sports,Worcester Park, such is the strength in depth of the Division, and no promotion surely not. Two Ton Ted
But the FA can transfer step 5 clubs to other understrength leagues, so teams like Croydon, Horley or even Epsom & Ewell couls be shifted to the Southern Counties East, and replaced by for arguments sake, AFC Croydon Athletic and Epsom Athletic
chairman_afcca
But the FA can transfer step 5 clubs to other understrength leagues, so teams like Croydon, Horley or even Epsom & Ewell couls be shifted to the Southern Counties East, and replaced by for arguments sake, AFC Croydon Athletic and Epsom Athletic Personally I don't think people should get exercised by this at present, I am not. This is a problem that will occur every year so we need to get used to it and this speculation. The issue is that 14 clubs are due to be relegated to the 14 Step 5 Leagues. Each Step 5 League has a team to be promoted to Step 4. Unfortunately this will never dovetail perfectly and there will always have to movements. I think we have already seen 3 teams disappear at Step 4 or above this season, which is very sad. This will probably reduce the number relegated to 11. There may yet be more. Not all the Step 5 Clubs may meet ground grading and this will result in further changes. The League Rules, which the Committee are elected to uphold, do not appear to allow for stopping someone being promoted if they meet the eligibility anymore than they would allow the Committee to relegate more than the 3 teams from the Premier Division. If a Club finished in the top three and was eligible to be promoted but was denied by the Committee then it would cause quite a stink and could even end up in litigation. I don't think this will happen as slots will be found for the teams and that may mean that some clubs moving league. I am conscious that should AFC Croydon Athletic manage to finish in the top 3 then as one of the most easterly Clubs we could end up in the understrength Southern Counties East League. Not a preferred option but you have to be aware of the possibilities. More of a concern to me is what seems to be the harder line from the FA about clubs who do not meet Step 6 ground grading being relegated. Whilst this would be very sad for clubs concerned particularly where they have a long association with the league but it also raises issues about the viability of a division that could have just 12 team! This is an issue the FA must revisit in my opinion.
Chris Clapham
Our step 6 division one has been an issue waiting to happen for a while now and really should have been sorted earlier somehow. lots to sort out in the south east at step 5.
Powelly1
Fleet came from the Wessex and would go back there I would have thought. Probably with Aldershot when they go pop again.
