End of Season Walk

Rebel Kay

Recommended Posts

Its that time of year again.

This year we have decided that given the final away game is on Easter Monday, which is not a good day for some, that we will walk to the last Saturday game which is Ashford Town (Middx).on Saturday 12th April.

This is a relatively short amble, certainly less than 10 miles, so hopefully many of you will join the usual crew.

We haven't finalised a charity yet, so if you have a small, local charity close to your heart, please let me know.

We will have sponsor forms available shortly, once we have picked a charity.

If you are planning to walk, please let me know.

Would be fantastic to have a large number of walkers.

I put the walk information on the MyFC forum, and they have started a pledgebank page, like that for donating money to the Adam Foulser cause, at http://www.pledgebank.com/RebelsWalkaway to help them to raise some sponsorship for the walk, asking their members to pledge 50p per mile.

Thanks Dan and MY FC great idea.

With regard to the route and timing etc

I have a route in mind which I am going to go and drive tomorrow to make sure it is walker friendly.

Either of the routes I have in mind are approx 3 hours.

so lets aim for a 10.30 start from Wexham Park and have a leisurely walk and a drink or two in the bar before the game.

Watch this space.

Right

10.30 start at Wexham Park.

Walking up to A4 then following it all the way through Colnbrook, around the airport on the Stanwell Moor Road, Southern Perimeter Road over the bridge into Long Lane.  Easy peasy 9 miles, max 3 hours.  I will print out copies of the route.

Think we have about 8 walkers at the moment.

I understand there is no coach to Ashford, so please bear in mind how you are going to get home again. We can probably give one lift back, maybe two if necessary. Wexham Park will be locked, so any cars will have to be left in the road opposite.

A possible way back for those without a lift is to return up Long Lane and over bridge to Southern Perimeter road. Here you cross the road carefully and

go to the cargo area. Here get a 482 or 490 bus to terminal 5-they run about every 10 minutes between them.Dont forget buses run in 2 directions so get the right one.....front of bus will show -Terminal 5-

At T5 get a 60/61 going to Eton wick via Slough or 71 to Slough or 77 to Windsor via Slough or a 78 to Britwell via Slough,

About every 10 minutes between them.

Quickest is the 77 taking about 25 minutes, slowest is the 71 taking about an hour via Staines Egham and Windsor.

These all get you to Slough Bus Station from where I am sure you can find your way...

Good luck to all walkers..and the Team.. COYR..

Don't know if anyone will see this as I assume it's not just me who's not been able to get onto the forum a lot this week, but here goes.

Is there anyone going to the game who can offer a lift to 3 walkers back to Wexham Park after the game on Saturday please? It's for me, Mark44 and his friend.

Thanks

I could give two people a lift back,as I live opposite Wexham Park,as long as they don't mind roughing it a bit,as my car is a bit of a tip,as I use it for my work !

Will tidy it a bit if I have guests ! ha ha !

Am sure we can bring the other one

Kay or ARAAS ,do you want me to meet with the walkers, just before you leave Wexham Park,so I can arrange a lift back for a couple, thus they will know who I am?

3spirit,

Feel free to come and see us off, nice to have a departure committee. Will also make it easier for those catching a lift back with you if they know who you are.

I think it is 8 - 10 walkers, with Windsor Rebel maybe joining us on route.

Look forward to seeing you all on Friday evening as well as Saturday morning.

Looking highly unlikely I am going to make this and likewise will be missing the quiz tomorrow. I'll contribute to the Foulser fund separately and will sponsor my erstwhile walking buddies Kay and Radders for Saturday.

Enjoy one and all, should be a walk in the park!
