North Greenford

Recommended Posts

I'm down in London for the week and thought I'd try to make it to a game. Can't do the game on Saturday as I have to get back in time for the Hearts v Hibs game on Sunday at 12:45 and trains wouldn't work out if I went to game on Saturday.

Only problem with the game tomorrow is the train times. 9:45pm is the last realistic train I can get back (I'm staying in Surbiton). There is a train later but it would take forever for me to get back.

I wanted to check how close the train station is to North Greenford's ground. Judging by google maps I'd definitely have to miss the end of the match but I'm not sure how early I'd have to leave to catch the train.

Basically trying to decide if it is worthwhile going or not.

Stanley , I live just down the road from Surbiton and will happily give you a lift back to where you're staying if that's of any help to you.

Wow, thanks.  Only if it is not inconvenient for you.

Have to say I'm pretty impressed by how friendly everyone has been.  Ian (from the forum) helped me out massively after the FA Cup replay against Mansfield last year as well.  Nice to see.

I don't mind getting the train but if it's not too difficult for you to give me a lift then I'd really appreciate that.  The frustrating thing about the train is it takes ages because you have to go into the centre of London first then back out to get to Greenford.  I suppose that's the same with many small places in London.  I really didn't post this topic in expectation of someone offering me a lift so thanks a lot.

Great result albeit against a poor North Greenford side. After racing into a two goal lead we let them get back into it by not slowing the game down but as soon as we scored at the start of the second it was never in doubt.

Awarded two penalties, scored one and missed one, although the one we missed was never a penalty in a million years. Great save and follow-up save from the keeper who isn't their first choice and was too often left exposed by good Slough play and generous defending.

Tonight I was especially impressed with Dan Sintim playing a midfield role and he looked very comfortable and assured on the ball.

Agree with Ian, terrific start but maybe we got a bit sloppy first half after that. Having said that, we perhaps should have scored 2 or 3 more. Second half we put them to the sword really, could have had double figures. Felt a bit for NGU, they look a very young side in a bit of disarray but we showed them no mercy. Onto a tougher test on Saturday.

The ref was a bit of a joke. How that challenge in the first minute didn't get a card was beyond me, it should have been a straight red. As Ian says, the second penalty was a very poor decision. He made bizarre calls all evening and seemed a bit arrogant with it.

Not sure the other games went that great for us but if we keep winning and performing well it will take care of itself.

Yep agree with all that Ian said. Great to see Scott Harris notch a hat trick, he is impressing more and more as the season goes on. Thought Dobson had a solid debut, has a cracking left foot and is not shot shy so looks a good addition. Liked Jake's work rate coming on from the bench as he was clearly keen to impressive and it is great to have competition for places in the wide areas.

I was also massively impressed with Ryan's work rate. He was still bombing forward screaming for the ball even at 5 and 6 when he could easily have sat back and had a breather.

Job done, onto another big one on Saturday. COYR

Decided to change my username after much confusion because my real name is Adam and not Stanley...

I definitely got lucky with this being the only game I've been to this season.  I thought it was pretty comfortable throughout though there was a brief period at 2-1 where I wasn't quite as confident.  Once it went to 3-1 the game was over and there always looked like being more goals for Slough.  Can only echo the thoughts of others about the second penalty.  Definitely didn't look like it should have been given.

Not much to add about tonight other than a professional job done against an enthusiastic and young North Greenford side.

Good debut from James Dobson who showed he was quick and can put a good cross in.

Hatchet my MOTM closely followed by Ryan Parsons, Guy Hollis and Dan Sintim.

Onto a massive game on Saturday.

Was good to see you again, Adam. A better result this time too!

You certainly pickled a good game Adam, was good to meet you in the bar.

Great performance overall. It's not easy to score that many against any team in this league but you could see the hunger in the team and the goal difference boost is crucial. Agreed we wobbled a bit on the first half after our flying start but the second half was very convincing. Very pleased for Scott Harris getting a hat trick too.

As for the other results I'm surprised Rugby dropped points against Aylesbury, but I think I'd have preferred Kettering to win instead of Barton but either way 3 teams around us dropped points and that's only going to help us.

The next two games are huge in the hunt for the playoffs. Just got to keep believing and back the boys all the way. COYR.
