Decent game at Hanwell, in horrible conditions, who struggled to assert themselves early on but got a penalty in the 39th minute. Tring were dangerous on the break and got their equaliser in the 2nd half when they just beat the offside trap

Superb headed own goal from Trings number 6, but he may not think so :D , gave Hanwell the lead and a tap in deep into injury time sealed the win

Hanwell not at their best but they battled through and earned another priceless 3 points. Tring played their part with a very tricky left winger causing problems, and seemed a friendly bunch as well

Thank you to Savage Bee of this forum who was handing teamsheets out in the clubhouse and nice to see the usual regulars at a club that always has a friendly welcome and a smile

Just a mention for the ref who managed to get the game kicked off on time. Made a couple of mistakes in my eyes but allowed the game to flow and had a word rather than flash the cards

Hanwell Town 3 Tring Athletic 1 :)

Thought Tring Athletic were the better team in the first half there num 7 Chris Vardy gave us all sorts of trouble in the first half but in the second half I thought we were the better team and good to see new signing Rob Laney (Hillingdon Borough FC) get of the mark for Hanwell Town.

Not the best game of football from us but 3 more points to add to the collection.

The pitch held out well.

Glad you enjoyed the game Tango Man.

PREMIER DIVISION

3-1 Hanwell Town v Tring Athletic

A report from another Forum:

South Midlands League Premier Division

Hanwell Town 3 Tring Athletic 1

Admission: £6 Programme: Free Attendance: 56 (H/C)

A dismal night weather-wise at a ground slap bang next to the A40. There was a reasonably strong wind and it rained to some degree throughout. The pitch held up well enough although there is an area near the penalty area at the road end which literally resembles a beach, so thoroughly has it been sanded.

Hanwell scarcely deserved this; they barely got going during the course of the evening but they are likely to win the title if they can gather points playing this poorly. They took the lead from a penalty 5 minutes from half time after Tring's most significant attacking spell which largely involved using the space found by the runs of their left winger. Tring's response before half time was to hit the post and miss a further clear opportunity, but they had to wait until 18 minutes from time for their equaliser which ironically came from the right after Hanwell's offside trap broke down only marginally inside their own half.

Eight minutes from time, the Tring #6 spectacularly headed a near post corner into his own net and Tring failed to threaten an equaliser. Hanwell's third came from close range in the third minute of added time but did not, in my judgement, accurately reflect the state of the game.

PREMIER DIVISION

2-1 Cockfosters v Biggleswade United

A report from another Forum:

Cockfosters 2-1 Biggleswade U

SSML Prem

Att 41 Adm £4 Prog £1

An enjoyable game on a wet night with 'Fosters dominating the first half but 0-0 at HT, an early home goal in the second half cancelled out 5 mins later, the visitors improved and looked slightly the better team thereafter but it was 'Fosters that nicked it with a close range header in the 89th minute. Fosters up to 15th now (with twelve and ten games in hand on the 13th & 14th placed teams!) - five games scheduled for each of the next two weeks (hope there isn't any more rain).

Work on the ground, which has always been one of the least developed Step 5 grounds, is taking place - hardstanding on 3 sides now virtually complete & I understand that more seats are due to be installed next week with plans for a PA system & some cover behind the south goal.
