Rhodes
DIVISION ONE4-0 Welwyn Garden City v Wodson Park A report on this one from another Forum: Spartan South Midlands league Div 1, Welwyn Garden City 4 Wodson Park 0 Att 44 Admission £5, Programme 32 pages free, coffee 90p Decent game between 2 sides who played good football. Although Wodson Park had a couple of chances on the break, WGC deservedly went in at half time thanks to a scrambled effort on the stroke of halt time. The ball finally going in at about the 5th attempt. Three minutes into the second period the goal of the game if not the season when Jason Caswell let rip first time from the left hand corner of the box following a long ball played over the top. Sloppy defending from a corner allowed a third before Caswell completed the scoring with a smart turn and finish from the edge of the box in the last ten minutes. Although well beaten, the visitors young team put in a spirited display in what was an enjoyable game. Also mention to the referee, Mr Ball from Letchworth who gave a an excellent display in trying to play the advantage where possible and not being afraid to bring the play back. The ground at Herns Lane is impressive for this level, a small stand on one side and similar sixed cover opposite and a lovely club house. Very good playing surface and an all round enjoyable visit. Rhodes
DIVISION ONE 5-1 Baldock Town v Stony Stratford Town A report from another Forum: South Midlands Division 1 BALDOCK TOWN 5-1 STONY STRATFORD TOWN Admission £5.00 Prog £1.00 CBC & C £4.70 Tea £1.00 Attendance h/c 38 Comfortable win against the visitors who sit next to bottom of the division and don’t look like going anywhere apart from Division 2 next season (assuming two go down). No sign of the woman from HTFC tonight - instead we were entertained by a hyperactive lad in a white GCSE PE top who spent the evening in the unofficial role of ballboy and roping Captain Spatch junior into looking for missing balls. Also at this one. The hyperactive junior has apparently been accepted as a linesman in SSML Div One for next year, or so he says ("£25 per game"). Last week HTFC woman was inside the tea bar at the counter but kept having to move when anybody approached requiring food and drink but loudly announced that she was sorry but had nothing to do with the tea bar. Rhodes
HERTS SENIOR CENTENARY TROPHY FINAL 0-1 Sun Postal Sports v Belstone (@ Letchworth County Ground) A report from another Forum: Herts FA Centenary Trophy Final at the County Ground, Letchworth GC. Sun Postal Sports (Yellow/Blue)- South Mids League D1 - 0-1 Belstone (Red/Black)- Herts County League Premier. Admission fiver, inc pretty good programme, att about 150. Pint of smoothflow three quid, no real ale, tea bar open for food and hot drinks. Good to get a mid week tick ground. Pretty good to, cover on all 4 sides, main stand seating about 3/400 I'd guess. Awful 1st half, shaded by Belstone, Sun couldn't string a pass. Better 2nd half, winning goal scored by striker Jamie Arthur in the 76th minute after a breakaway. Sun dominated the 2nd half, and for the last 15 minutes decamped in the Belstone half and had numerous shots deflected round/over and cleared away from the posts. Belstone held out to lift the cup for the first time. Good to chat to another Kempster poster, Red Robbo I think he said, and saw some others I recognised.
