Enfield Town v Grays Athletic

There will be plenty of action and drama at the QE2 Stadium on Tuesday evening when Town host old friends and rivals Grays Athletic. Who can forget that epic Ryman Division One North play-off Semi-Final , which we edged after some heart-stopping moments !

Town have produced some excellent performances and results in recent matches, and will be looking to add to their improving points tally and move away from the drop zone. George and the lads deserve maximum support from all Towners, as they look to deliver three more precious points.

Definitely not a match to be missed.

Good luck guys we are right behind you.

I was pleased to make the 200 mile round journey last night, to see a live match and support Town in a very tough, difficult contest. Town worked hard, and there some good individual performances, but generally Gray, with their dangerous fast-breaking attack, always posed a big threat to Town's defence, and created more chances.
There where a number of goal-line clearances, and Noel Imber once again saved the day with some fine saves.

The first half was goal-less, probably most memorable for quite a number of miss-timed tackle, and the referee flashing yellow cards at every opportunity.

The game flowed in the second half as both teams looked for a win. Grays took the lead, ten minutes from the restart, with a well struck free-kick from about 18 yards out, with Imber unsighted. Grays went close to adding a second on a number occasions, but Town's search for an equaliser was rewarded five minutes from the end, when they were awarded a free-kick, again about 18 yards out, and Liam Hope hit a beauty to level the match.

Another precious point in the fight for survival which, on the balance of play, we would probably be happy to settle for on the night.

A game we should've lost but could've won! If Tyler had scored in the last minute it would have been floodlight robbery.

While I understand that George wants us to keep a compact shape - and he has certainly improved things since the hidings under the old regime, we looked far more likely to score when we used the width and had a bit of pace up front.

Is this cautious approach going to keep us up?

I agree TCC. We have certainly sacrificed some of our attacking prowess for defensive stability but it is meaning that the attacking flair and service into the attackers is somewhat lacking. High and long balls need to be mixed with passing football a little more where possible.

We didn't play at all well last night compared to Saturday. Grays ran the show for long periods and were first and second to most balls. They could have scored more but thankfully their finishing was woeful.

Need to try harder and not take our foot off the gas.

I know what you are saying but keeping it compact means we are not losing games and then gb can change the game by bringing on the pace up front.

keep it tight hit them on the break and nick a win and I can see the relegation battle being won.

come on you towners. :P
