Saturday 15th March

Recommended Posts

I was talking to some one on Saturday regarding Hillingdon Borough's pitch and I was told that there pitch is rented out to anyone who wants to pay to play on it ? and I don't mean Kentish Town FC.

Also Hatfield Town are letting in a hell of a amount of goals ? i think its 25 in the last five games shocking hope they turn things around soon.

Also a big win for Southall yesterday they needed it big time a late charge maybe ?

90% of the game was ours our keeper didn't have a save to make he came for a cross on 4 mins he never should have and their player nodded in. Moaning and whinging through the whole game trying to get our players sent off, and then one of theirs stamps on our lb's head. They will be nowhere near on what I saw, I've seen fairer mugging a than that game.

I believe that a Middlesex County League Club also groundshare there in addition to Kentish Town, surely it's about time Kentish Town brought Chase Lodge Playing Fields up to the required standard as they were handed it on a plate over three years ago by Camden Council

So Kentish Town weren't handed Chase Lodge Playing Fields on a silver platter then by Camden Council, apologies, as you say I need to get my information correct.

DIVISION TWO

1-1 Kent Athletic v The 61FC (Luton)

A report from another Forum:

Spartan South Midlands Div 2

Kent Athletic 1 61FC Luton 1

admission free, programme £1-00, attendance 45 h/c

1st v 4th

Nice sunny day in Luton for this local derby, with a dry bumpy pitch. The home team had most of the early possession but the visitors looked very dangerous on the break. Their winger Gittens was always a threat and he beat two men early on but his cross just eluded a forward. Kent's came back and a great cross was just missed by full-back A.Currington rushing in. His brother was playing for the visitors, and he scored on 32 mins as Gittens again beat two men, this time he shot, the shot was saved but B.Currington got the rebound. He came close again before half time. After the break Kent pressed again but were frustrated by some committed defending and a decent offside trap. The visitors nearly extended their lead but Lewis headed against the bar from a free-kick. Anderson had a good shot saved as the home team continued to pile on the pressure and eight mins from time they finally got the equaliser, player-manager and sub Penman hammering a shot against the underside of the bar and in, according to the linesman. Kent attacked furiously but 61 held out, and could even have won it as B.Currington came close. A draw a fair result and the standard pretty good for a step 7 game.

Kent Athletic Club has been described here before. a large friendly clubhouse, with lots of events, and a patio, at one end, the other end and one side has houses and (presumably) the old Kent's factory (now a van-hire firm) on the other side.

DIVISION ONE

0-1 Winslow United v Southall

A report from another Forum:

Spartan South Midlands League Division One

Winslow United 0-1 Southall

Admission : £4

Programme : £1

Tea : £1 (mug)

Have now completed all the clubs in my local Step 5/6/7 league. Winslow is an entirely representative example at Step 6 with an Atcost stand but with a better clubhouse than many with enthusiastic club representatives and supporters. The surroundings are pleasant, particularly on such a nice day, weatherwise, as today with a nearby park and an interesting variety of older buildings towards the town centre.

In common with a few other posters today, I ended up with a poor spectacle of football. Southall took an early lead and immediately seemed determined to stymie Winslow’s efforts to get back into the game with time-wasting and the feigning of injury. This had the desired effect and the home team were several times on the fringe of boiling over including the management. The referee had a difficult job and did well to restrict himself to one yellow card before the break. Post-interval, Winslow were able to concentrate more on football and the visiting goal came under considerable pressure without a convincing final ball. Southall were dangerous on the break but, in the aftermath of one of their attacks on 75 mins, a very late tackle on a home defender in the process of clearing the ball led to a straight red card. Prior to the referee being able to issue this, however, there was a totally unjustified incursion onto the playing area by the entire home bench. To his credit, the visiting captain ordered all his players to withdraw away from the area of conflict and into their own half, allowing the referee to take the appropriate action. Winslow were unable to take advantage of having the extra man and Southall saw out the lengthy period of injury time comfortably.

A considerable, and totally unexpected, bonus to the day out was the Winslow Lions Club Beer Festival held in the community centre across the road from the ground at which I was able to while away an hour pre-match.

Agree with the above.

September, October or even November was just told the Hillingdon Borough pitch deteriorated a lot quicker this season then other pitches in the SSML.

Hillingdon Borough FC is still one of my fave grounds to visit regardless of what state the pitch is in.

Yes I was at the Vase game against Kentish Town.

The funny thing is I was talking to a ground hopper at the CB Hounslow United v South Kilburn game last night and he was telling me that he went to a recent Kentish Town home game and he said that the pitch was good. So that's makes the info given to me wrong regarding the pitch.

PS- The Ground Hopper said he liked your programme.
