Daventry

Nightmare following the scores on Twitter.  I follow all the teams who are in playoff contention on Twitter as it is the easiest way to keep up with the scores.  Kept having to click on "one new tweet" near the end there and hoping it wouldn't be a Daventry goal.  I know there's the radio option too but I've never liked listening to matches on the radio.  Too nerve-wracking.

I suppose drawing away to a team that might end up winning the league is not a bad result but it's pretty disappointing how it happened.  It's hard to say more though without being at the match.

On a side note, it's funny to see the tweets coming in from two different teams about the scores (not the Daventry v Slough match but other teams in the league).  You'll get one team tweeting "X crossed to Y and he scored with a header.  1-0 to our team" and then the other team tweeting "Terrible refereeing decision.  Worst referee in the league.  1-0 to the other team" about the same goal.

That would normally be a great point gained, but feels like a defeat. In my opinion, this looks the 5th place is between us & Barton.I can't see many teams stopping Kettering,& it's unlikely we'll catch the 3 teams above us.Some crucial games coming up,& GD could still be a factor.COYR!

Other results did not go our way so will be a struggle from here on in.

Was surprised how Daventry only managed to scramble a draw from the game at their place today considering they are supposed to be the champions elect.

Also their fans were celebrating like they had picked up 3 points away, when all they had done was get 1 point out of 6 in their last 2 home games.

Daventry are a strange club - had a good chat with one of their older fans who was friendly and welcoming and the true spirit of non-league football, and then there were the pissheads on the balcony who looked like they were only there for the cheap beer.

Great support from those in the seats second half - Brighton has a good idea every now and then!

Gutted for the lads as I thought we played very well particularly first half and fell behind to a great strike from Robinson that came against the run of play.

Whilst it seemed odd that the ref found 5 minutes of injury time but my only criticism of the team was that they showed too much respect to Daventry and got suckered into holding on and sitting in deeper and deeper and inviting pressure when I think we should have stuck to the attacking stuff and tried to ping it around a bit more and make them work for possession.

Ultimately you would say a good point on paper but disappointing in context.

On we go, COYR

It now looks to me that Kettering who we beat easily are now in with a chance of even winning the league ( what does that tell us ?).

Lino, we beat Kettering earlier in the season before they started to 'splash other peoples the cash'

The funny bit is they are still having bucket collections to supposedly help pay off their huge debt or is it to pay for some more players if required to win the league?

Thought the fans were fantastic.... as were our lads, they worked hard on a really tough pitch, that was not conducive to good football, however we played some good stuff at times.

It does feel like a loss, however you have to credit Daventry who never gave up, and you need to remember that in 15 league games at home up until today they had won 13, drawn 1 and lost 1, so they were always going to throw everything at it towards the end.

Whatever, our lads have one defeat in 10 league games, and I believe are a credit to Slough Town, they are honest, and also a team....

We will go again, we just need to get another winning run, starting with Leighton at home:

Nobody said it would be easy to get in the play offs, and if I am honest I thought we might have been done after our terrible December, so the fact that we are fighting for a play off spot is credit to the lads.

Have to say that Kettering are on a fantastic run of form, and could quite easily still go on and win it.

Lino or should I say Hotspur, if they do win the league was my information right that they were a "strong side" or will be a strong side....

Anyway enough about that troll, thanks to everyone who was so vocal, and it was great to hear mine and Unders name chanted today...

Sorry we could not quite hold on... but plenty of football left to be played:

Does feel like a defeat when we concede a goal deep into time added on.

No trainer on the pitch second half, nobody warned for time wasting, so where did the 5 or so minutes of time added on come from? certainly feeling cheated on that score.

Overall though, pleased with our performance.

Yep, time to go on another winning run now as Neil says. We can do this.

Barton away in particular is massive. Be interesting to see if that's scheduled for a Thursday as I'm not too sure if they have a any free Tuesdays now?

Could not make today, so went to see Marlow v Rugby. Rugby fans very good. Even gave the crowd a Slough Town song when they heard we were 2-1 up! ;-)

One of the worst feelings in football, being ahead and losing out on 3 points due to a last minute goal especially so inexplicably late on.

Thought we battle hard today but in the last 5-10 (including added on time) we didn't keep the ball any where near well enough and invited pressure.

Have to say that it really showed that Short isn't a winger as he never seemed sure where to be.

Thought that Rummy was superb, battling excellently in midfield and will be a huge loss when he leaves. Hopefully now Short is fully fit he will be able to take his place or the gaffers bring in someone new.

Wazza was great again today running at the defenders who never knew where he was going or how to stop him. Sometimes wonder why players from every team at this level don't run at defenders more, you don't need fancy footwork or tricks to do it, just look at wazza he times his touches well to knock the ball around the defenders.

#DareToWazza =]

I think we should avoid concentrating on going on a run and just concentrate on winning the next match, there will still be plenty of twists and turns. Forget about the others and concentrate on our next opponents.

p.s. if Daventry No.5 got himself into better shape he could be a really great player.

I think despite the Daventry number 5's ample physique he was superb. Won most things in the air and was typically in the right place. He even outpaced Hatchet to a through ball just after he came on!!

Thought our lads were fantastic today although agree with Martin that we perhaps showed them a bit too much respect. Not sure where the referee found so much stoppage time though. Maybe he was responding to the incessant whining by the Daventry players and management about being hard done by.

Glad the purple balcony dwellers didn't disappoint, showing once again what happens when you sell Stella Artois for two quid a pint to people of questionable intelligence.

Southern League website gives the goal scored in 93rd minute, so 3 minutes would include 5 subs and 1 goal each at 30 seconds. Thought George had a really good game and would have liked him to play 90 mins. Could see how gutted the players were at the end but we played really well today and their keeper made 3 good saves to keep them in the game
