Ryman League - Hornchurch 1 Bedford Town 0

Well it was a bit of a poor game to be honest but it was never going to live up to what happened on Sunday.

Bedford though gave our defence more of a workout than Darlington did and kept the ball for long periods around our penalty area especially in the second half.

Bedford's Drew Roberts dragged a shot wide early on in the first half but soon after John Martin and Lloyd Opara had efforts blocked in quick succession. Opara shot narrowly over from 20 yards and 4 minutes later came even closer when he got clear and rounded the keeper only for his goalbound effort to be cleared off the line by Liam Folds. Our goal came in the 24th minute when Vinnie John drove the ball home from a wide angle after a good move down the right flank.

Not too many chances in the second half with Bedford employing the offside trap successfully and our defence holding firm. Bedford's Davies French shot across goal and wide from 20 yards in the 56th minute and Opara narrowly missed with an effort on the hour. Bedford enjoyed some good possession at this point and Niki Stewart curled a shot just wide with 15 minutes to go after which their threat subsided until the end.

Line-up:- Gay, Gooding, Kerrigan, Adedeji, West, Locke, Keeling (Allen 73), J Martin, John, Opara, Graham. Subs not used:- Douglas, Southon, Rowland, Collier (GK)
