Wheeler released

Having just read the piece on the website.Fully back the decision to let him go.

I know he's a  very good left winger on his day,has the ability to go past defenders and deliver's superb crosses but his attitude stinks. He rarely tracks back or makes a tackle.

I have never been his biggest fan but do know he is a quality player at our level but that said, there are a good few players in the non-league football, who I would rather wear the Slough shirt, than have this prima donna wearing it.

It's good to have the odd character/different personality in the team, that isn't always the model non-league player but if it upsets the team framework for team spirit and morale, then you're best to get shot.

Very similar feelings to 3spirit. Too often a luxury player who I remarked on many occasions seems to be in a game for about a third of each 90 minutes at best. His free kick shooting is possibly the best i can remember in a slough shirt but his crossing from free kicks and corners was pretty poor in my opinion and given his obvious talent this was a real negative for me. Always found it strange how different him and wazza were as players - wheeler only really involved when he was given the ball, wazza constantly going to find it in his all action style for 90 minutes. Interesting to see now what we can get in - would hope we ate looking at a dynamic centre midfielder and a tricky left winger but finding those good enough at this stage if a season won't be easy!!!

Real shame as he is extremely talented and weighs in with plenty of goals. Despite the obvious talent he never really hit it off with the fans as collectively we seem to prefer a more all action style and with Wazza on the other wing he did suffer by comparison.

Think he will be difficult to replace but it has to be the right decision as you cannot demand to start games.

Wish him well for the future

Yes Absolutely the correct decision  You cannot allow a situation where the decisions of the manager(s) is challenged and undermined by  a player regardless of which player it is  Ive no doubt that the reasons for the decision were explained to him and if he couldn't accept them then his position was untenable and the manager(s) left with no other course of action than the one they chose.

Wheels would certainly have known his fate when deciding he'd rather go somewhere else than be on the bench.

On his day a match winner and arguably the best player at taking free kicks and crossing the ball to wear a Slough shirt.

Started the season on fire but his form has gradually been tailing off as the season's progressed. As mentioned by Bakes, his private life has recently changed and could possibly have played a part.

Anyway, I would like to thank Wheels for all his efforts for the Rebels and wish him all the best for the future.

No comment on the reasons for his departure - we all have lives and decisions to make - but hope it works out somewhere else for the lad. Good on Neil and Jon again for acting swiftly. Do they have Jerome Anderson's number? hehe.

Talking to one of his (Godalming) team mates, it seems " he always has the hump especially if he doesnt get his own way". When I said that he wasnt one to talk to us mere supporters, the reply was to the effect that his doesnt talk much to his team mates either !

I agree with all that has been said about his talents but also that the managers were right to tell him goodbye.

What an unfortunate set of circumstances.... presumably if Darren had taken his place on the bench he would have been on after 20 minutes when Jake was injured, and be back in the starting line up with the opportunity to prove his obvious quality. And our Managers wouldn't be needing to search for a new player.

Darren.... at times when you have been in the right frame of mind you have shown us what a fantastic player you are, and I would personally like to thank you for both the entertainment and contribution you have provided to the team on those occasions. You might only have a few more seasons with the opportunity of playing at a reasonable standard, try to find a way to enjoy them to the full.

Succinctly put and spot on Curtis.

In fairness Darren was always very approachable when in and around the tunnel and always acknowledged Alfie. I hope he goes on and does well elsewhere.

At the end of the day, I couldn't care less about his personality as long as it doesn't effect his playing and the team..... But gotta be honest he really impressed me pre season and since then hasn't lived up to expectations which was a massive shame! Good luck where ever he goes aslong as it's not against us!

An interesting comparison between the old and new management, Bateman would have given into his whinging and it would have been one of the many divides in his dressing room - Bateman was one to accommodate the big egos.

However the current managers are far more interested in a team approach where the team comes first and the egos have a choice - prefer the current setup as a team performance is far better than prima donnas.
