St Ives (h) - 8th March (1-0)

Not a classic by any stretch but we were always the better team and I can't really remember jake needing to make a save. Excellent debut from sintim (deservedly named motm) at centre back alongside wooz with notable performances also from both full backs and especially rummy in centre mid. Needed the win ahead of some tough away games coming up and we got it. Well done lads. COYR!!!

Not a match that's going to stay in the memory long. A pretty uninspiring game first half. Second half Slough were the better side and worked to make opportunities to score.

Thought St Ives would have been happy with a draw,as they clearly hadn't come for a win.Credit to Slough, though, for sticking to the task and getting those precious 3 points.

Man of the match for me was Dave Woozley, though Leigh Rumbold and Ryan Parsons ran him close.

Thought George Short's passing was very good but he did look a bit heavy legged and tired towards the end of the game.A lot of people don't appreciate how hard playing in centre midfield is, with the amount of running you need to do there.Anyway I think it's good that he got 90 minutes under his belt,as he did look a little bit short of match fitness.

Dan Simtin looked a very competent player and did his job well, although I think Daventry will test him a lot more than St Ives did.

Nice to see a few teams around us dropping points.Anyone know how bad Jake P's injury is?

We will explain the circumstances around Darren at some point tomorrow.

Clurgy was unavailable also as he was in the hospital until just gone 3pm due to a family issue, so was a late pull out, but superb from him that he made the last 25 minutes as a sub.

Scrappy game that never really got going.

I thought St Ives were pretty negative with their slow play and would have been elated with a point.

At this stage of the season it's all about getting the points so in that respect it was a job well done!

My MOTM was Rummy.

Three points gained after dropping three midweek the perfect response I'd say. It was not a great game but we kept a clean sheet and a good debut from simtin who looks a very good player if we could keep him for a little bit. well done to the team a scrappy one nil but it's the points that count.

Excellent result, following on twitter was starting to wonder if it was going to be one of those days as we seemed to be having the best of it and you just had this nagging thought they would catch us on the break. So very relieved to get the full time score through. Great stuff. COYR

Once again grinding out the result but the three points are what matters..........as 3spirit says , not a match to keep in the memory but despite not looking the part for some of the game, the job was done,

Rumbold my MOTM but great credit also to Dan for that centre half performance

Await the Wheels story with interest........................

A very important result in my mind, after a disappointing Tuesday we faced what was a very defensive st Ives team who came to get a point IMO. For large parts of the game we saw a midfield battle and it took that one bit of brilliant link up play for dyer to score.

A great way to recover after Tuesday and results going our way once again on more than one game. If only daventry could stop winning.

My mom would be between dyer and sintim with sintim probably having the edge.

Hoping on better news today than feared on the wheeler situation. Nobody can cross a ball like he does in our team

Surprised at how few mentions there are for George's performance. Had I been choosing the MoM he would have been my choice with Rummy and Dan close behind.

Each to their own,Ian.We all view the game differently but I think you were seeing a totally different game from me !

I really believe, that the perspectives are skewed, depending on where you stand.I'm a side dweller thus able to watch the midfield closely but not always seeing goal mouth scrambles well, that standing behind the goal offers.

To me,George had an ok game. His passing was excellent but his work rate at closing down players wasn't the best.

I think his turn of speed given his size, can be a drawback in the centre of midfield, especially to the defensive part of the game.

I think he suit's offensive play better ie making runs from the halfway line to the opposition's box.

He is still young and learning his craft and well worth persevering with. Yesterday,he was obviously rusty with not playing in our first team for awhile.

To his notable credit,I understand that he travels a fair distance to play for Slough.

I believe he has the right managers to get the best out of him. Unfortunately due to the pressures of trying to make the play off's, there currently is no time to experiment with other positions George could possibly play, which would also enhance what he offers in the centre of midfield. That is my opinion.

I do not want to be viewed here,as being hyper-critical to George Short,as that is not my intention. Having watched loads of Non League matches and lots of youth games over the years, like everything, you learn by experience.

George's time will come.

Yesterday in my view, there was no way he was Man of the Match.
