Referees do not cheat. They might make bad calls, they might make calls you don't agree with but to suggest they cheat means it's premeditated or conscious. I don't for one minute believe that.

Agree to disagree I do feel most of the people on this forum need to realize they are not perfect them selves before they start ranting about others or maybe...... Say it to their faces

Interesting to see so many different opinions here. To be honest I'd rather other clubs hated us as fans than had no opinion whatsoever. If we want to be universally loved we just need to be absolutely quiet and preferably stay at home and listen on radio.

Yes some fans occasionally shout suggestions at refs (I agree calling him a c))t) was a little ott(and I do agree (hopefully) that refs don't deliberately get things wrong) but you can't complain about passion and (at times aggression) whilst at the same time saying we don't make enough noise. I can guarantee the vast vast vast majority of those chanting cheat cheat (yup I joined in too) are the only ones vocally supporting our team. I am willing to bet that if all of us horrible 'cheat' chanters decided to be quiet next game you could hear a pin drop for 90 minutes.

So what's the preference... silent apathy? Or passionate volume?

Let's be honest,we all say things at times which we regret later and football is such an emotive sport, where passions run high but it has to be said, sometimes crowds turn into lynch mobs and if it weren't for laws of the game and the land, things would get out of control,as people lose all sense of right and wrong.

I believe the animalistic nature of some would probably lead to officials getting throttled and beaten-up.

Thankfully, football violence has lessened in this country although not entirely.Unfortunately, verbal abuse hasn't and some people go over the top with completely inane, idiotic, vitriolic, hateful comments, which to me is way out of line to what is regarded as normal behaviour.

Cheat is a strong word but we've all said it of someone or other,at sometime. I do not believe any referee's are cheats,as the whole ethos of the referee is to be an arbiter and to see fair play.

However, I do think they can be influenced by crowd behaviour towards them and be biased in subtle ways,at times, but this is a pretty impossible task to eradicate from a person's psyche.

I believe in the higher echelons of all sport there could be possibilities of corruption,in buying off officials to throw games but I hardly think Slough Town fans have to worry about that !

The reality is that some officials are very good at what they do,others are very average and many at our level are very poor but regardless of their standard, the non-league game needs them.

Everyone enjoys witty banter, songs, chants and the occasional ribbing of officials and as a whole,I think Slough Town FC should be proud of the supporters it has,as usually we are a credit to our team and town but occasionally we get a moronic element that let our side down !

I suppose the problem is human's don't always know they are being moronic !

Surely the preference is to use common sense.

I agree,Tom but not everyone seem's to have common sense !

Just because someone calls someone a cheat doesn't make them a moron !

Can this please stop now as I believe this thread is bringing more attention to the club than perhaps just a quiet word in the culprits ears would of done !

We are ALL guilty of not being angels at times now let's concentrate on today's game PLEASE.

Sue,calm down dear ! [as Michael Winner would have said]. We're all adults on here, aren't we?

There is nothing wrong with this thread. You are right, no one is saying; if you say someone is a cheat you are a moron.

People are, though, discussing the ramifications and implications of using such a word to officials at matches.

If we all behave rationally on here, where's the problem?

Incidentally, Slough fans seem to think our forum is terrible for arguments.I suggest people view other clubs forums,as it happens everywhere.

I've just viewed the Enfield Town forum and World War 3 is breaking out on there between a disgruntled ex manager and a recent joined supporter,so this forum is not the only one for heated debate.

It's less than 4 hours to todays kick off and nearly 4 days since the last game.

So the focus must move to this game today and hope we get a better ref than Tuesday

Please --Jon, Neil, the whole squad--want it as much as us lot and get us out of this rotten league !

Unfortunately, every season there seems to be teams with money to throw away at trying to win this division.

I say throw away because most of them have piss poor support which won't improve much if they get promoted and the pockets of their chairmen will have to get deeper and deeper.

Kettering and Rugby being the exceptions to this.

I see Daventry have just re-signed Tom Berwick from Corby and Rugby have this week signed 3 more players including Ben Gallant from Leighton.
