Egham (h) - 4th March

Recommended Posts

Being a fan of rugby union, too,I feel refs/linesmen in football get terribly barracked by fans but many of the football players hardly set a shining example of how to behave either. Not a dig at the current Slough side, who are angels compared to Steve Bateman's mob. Just an observation of most non-league football teams.

At the Egham game, the referee lost control of proceedings and was very inconsistent in reprimanding players and applying suitable bookings to both sides, so I can understand him getting a bit of stick .However to me,abusing officials so vociferously, get's totally out of hand and becomes moronic and is totally unnecessary.

I'm sure some people get off on shouting and swearing at officials to release pent up anger from their daily lives.

Grown men become like howling banshees, which to be frank is pathetic and embarrassing and they should look at themselves in the mirror,as no one is perfect and we all make mistakes.

To err is to be human.

Without referee's we have no game.

An early post asked why other clubs thinkof Slough fans, well this thread sums up what other clubs think of Slough!

Bickering between fans, passionate but divided support, people in authority whinging and moaning at the slightest of criticisms on the forum, certain individuals/authority trying to run and influence the club and fan base as they personally see fit.

Football is a passionate and frustrating game, every club in the country has a mixture of fans. Some wishing to chant whilst others watch intently. Some wishing to stand whilst others sit. Some wishing to be behind the attacking goal whilst others down the sides etc.. Everyone is different and acts differently, if we were all the same the world would be a boring place.

First the club made the forum for registered users only to view and post in an attempt to block negativity...Now those same people are trying to control what is said and sung and how people react behind the goal at games! Pathetic.

So wide of the mark,Greengrass,it's untrue.

Admittedly our club and it's supporters are not perfect and nor is Windsor's or any club up and down the land.

Yes,we have club men, managers, our chairman, occasionally a player or two but most on the Slough FC forum are independent views from independent supporters, who are open to say what they like, within the boundaries of the forum rules and the laws of our land.Just like you,Greengrass.

We have had the odd stirrer and troublemaker but all forum's get those.Just as at matches where passions run high and tempers sometimes exceed the spirit and nature of the game.

At least,we get a lot of contributors unlike many other forums.Honest debate and discussion is healthy for us all.

You can't please everyone all the time but that's life!

To all those on here who think it is acceptable to abuse a referee:

So the next time we get the same ref again, he will probably be thinking:

didnt enjoy myself there last time and if there is a 50/50 decison who will

it go in favour of? Slough? I dont think so. Have a think about it.

Everyone has a downer on us because we are so horrible so we are doomed anyway.

Wonder how many sets of oppo supporters have clapped us off after a good win? We do it regularly. Wonder how many times Somers is congratulated on a good game and wished good luck for the rest of the season? We do it regularly.

Isn't appealing for decisions part and parcel of the game? Couldn't those appeals sway refs on 50/50 decisions.

If an official walks onto the pitch with pre-conceived ideas that is bias and cheating.

Perhaps we should all just join the mute majority and see how that works out for us.

Today's attendance is 254, thank you all for your silent support.

Talking crowds, what a fantastic turn out for a Tuesday night I thought!!!

Not sure if anyone saw the crowd at Farnborough v Basingstoke in the Conference South, normally a big local derby??? 226.....

Nobody is perfect, mangers, players, officials, fans and committee members, we all say and do things that we might not do in every day of life, however that is what football sometimes does to you.

Lets concentrate on tomorrow and a really tough game against St Ives, and get that shed end pumping when we are attacking it:

Appealing for decisions is fine as is expressing dissatisfaction at the ref when he does something wrong. Screaming obscenities constantly using the worst possible language in the most aggressive tone, in my opinion, is over the top, especially on occasions when actually the call was correct.

Woahhhhh see now this convo has all changed! Some swear words are unacceptable but yelling cheat is not obscene it's purely expressing anger to what was bad calls from the ref at times!

Referees do not cheat. They might make bad calls, they might make calls you don't agree with but to suggest they cheat means it's premeditated or conscious. I don't for one minute believe that.
