Ukraine Crisis

And what about the green duffle coat at the Cenotaph, what on earth was he thinking!

I'm sure that Michael Foot was a highly intelligent and caring person - but he didn't look like he was capable of running the country.

I think its slightly naive to think one single person runs the country. I honestly believe though that Foot could have inspired the UK to be a kinder place though example.

Quite right Alan, I'm not suggesting that Michael Foot would have run the country by his own - however, to have a person in charge that seems that he (or unfortunately she in this case) needs to rightly or wrongly be perceived to be able to run the country. That's human nature unfortunately Alan, in my opinion wrong but there you go. Michael Foot against Thatcher, the Saatchi & Saatchi media machine behind her and the right wing press - the poor guy never stood a chance.

As for his appointment, I think that the people behind his appointment were towards the left of the Labour party, in a desperate attempt to make sure the choice I would have gone with, Dennis Healey never got in. Would the people behind Michael Foot run the country properly? - in my opinion no. Michael Foot's era was with Clement Atlee and that's the time he would have made a difference. Things got so bad that Thatcher was talking in terms of the death of socialism, the situation had become effectively a dictorship. The party was in desperate need for modernisation, both Neil Kinnock and John Smith recognised that.

John Smith was a thoroughly decent human being combined with the intelligence and empathy to be a great leader. Unfortunately this country lost out with his death.

I just wonder how John Smith would have dealt with Blair and Brown, both of whom were clearly hungry for power.

We'll never know but I suspect he had the necessary cojones.

Saddest day for British Politics was his untimely death, we'll never know what we lost.

He wasn't wearing a donkey jacket, it was an expensive present from his wife. I don't know who is worse, the journalists that write such crap, or the idiots that believe it.

There's no getting away from the fact that Michael's appearance allowed fools to misjudge him, anyone who met him was in no doubt of his keen mind and decency.

Did you meet him then, if not how would you know

I met Michael Foot several times Rhodes. Unlike yourself we don't all speak about things we know nothing of.

So what on earth possessed him to wear a green donkey jacket to the Cenotaph then

Loosely - How can you possibly defend someone who wears a donkey jacket to the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday

Why would anyone need to justify someone else's choice of coat to a scruffy oik such as yourself Rhodesly?

When was the last time you had that rumpled grimy suit drycleaned that you wear day in day out to every occasion? Never, I expect will be the answer.

Okay, let me put it another way, would you wear a scruffy donkey jacket to the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday if you were laying a wreath

Let me put it another way Rhodesly, when did you last have your greasy disreputable suit cleaned?

Loosely - This isn't about me though is it, it's about Michael Foot, another hero of yours by the sounds of it which, yet again, says it all about you

I believe you were asked two questions, that makes it about you yet again avoiding answering topical questions.

I'm proud to have been a supporter of the Labour movement and many of its leaders, I'm happy if that were to say it all about me however we should not generalise should we?

So, still no answer on how you can be a critic of someone else's appearance when you appear so disreputable yourself?

How about the other one? When did you EVER have your one and only day in day out outerwear cleaned?

The failure to answer these questions ladies and gents may not say it all but says a lot about our friend Rhodesly. A hypocrite of the first water.

It has all kicked off in Ukraine hasn't it with a day of intense fighting yesterday, two helicopters shot down and some forty deaths, very worrying!:
