behind-the-goal
Wasn't in the best of moods following the first team's defeat tonight, but then I had the misfortune of reading Ms Ford's comments regarding the youngsters on the club's official web site. The words I would actually like to use directed at Ms. Ford can't be used here. Suffice to say that she has confirmed my belief that Enfield Town (much as i love the first team and reserves) is not the right team for youngsters to be playing for. There are plenty more alternatives for the youngsters in the area. If anyone would like to take issue with this, I'm more than happy to go into detail in public. Steph
I can see where uou are coming from. As a youth player football should be fun first and Julia should be asked where is the fun in her reports.
andyetfc
BTG. not sure that ETFC is not the right club for youngsters to develop theirs skills whilst playing the game and having fun. The issue is the reporting. Many things are put on the forum or on web sites which can come back to haunt the writer. Let's see what happens. CD Towner
The issue isn't the reporting it's the misdirected management and misunderstanding of what the manager/coaches role is at that level.
Steve Newing
Behind the Goal spot on . I manage Freddie's U 12 team and whilst kids enjoy it more when they win , it is first and foremost about enjoyment and along the way developing them as individual and team players . If Freddie was an U 11 and lived in Enfield I would not let him anywhere near that sort of environment .

The Unknown
This is wrong. To put this on the Enfield Town website. They're U11's let them enjoy themselves. The one thing I disagree with is that these youngsters are getting named as well and at the end of the report I didn't like the bit where it said "NOT GETTING SHOPPING TROLLYS FROM THE BUSHES AND RIDING IT ACROSSE A FIELD" There is no need. Is there no way we could get this removed from out website?
Enfield United
I've just got back from being abroad so did'nt get the chance to see what the contents of the report had in it, but I fully trust from the forum's reaction, it was justifiably regarded as 'inappropriate'. I've been actively involved in coaching/managing youth and senior football from U7s teams to senior reserve and senior representative teams for almost 20 years. You come across characters and personalities that can inspire everyone to better things and also come across individuals who do not. Additionally, some individuals can make decisions which they later regret. As a youth section which is run by volunteers who in fact put in hours and hours of their personal time to administer the boys section as best as they can and trust me we are lucky to have a handful of fantastic people serving our club, more would be welcomed. It is almost inevitable that when running 12 youth teams (220+ children and i'll estimate 440 mums/dads-not including uncles/grandparents/older brothers) we are not going to be perfect or have the common sense to realise our mistakes til it's too late. I'm pleased to say that this named individual is not a coach or manager of any of our teams. As a youth section, we will approach this lady and make her aware of the detrimental effects her actions can have. As for Enfield Town Youth FC not being the 'right team to be playing for' is extremely off the mark as well. We have and have had 100's+ boys who have enjoyed playing for our teams and some who have flourished to the extent of turning out for Profession Clubs, their academy teams and our reserves and first team. The actions of one or maybe two people should not be used to undermine the hard working coaches and volunteers who do so well at training and when matches are played on Sundays. I'm not going to comment anymore on this issue as it will be dealt with as will all matters be dealt with within our guided framework that concern the enjoyment of football from young children to the older youth boys, by our small army of committee members.
