Met Police v Town

What a poor performance yesterday. Ok some of it can be attributed to not being match sharp however many of the players have to question whether they had the right mindset for what was always going to be a tough game.

Full marks for the way that the game was played. No petty fouls and the ref clearly being in charge.

I don't want to go OTT just because we lost a game after a few good results but last night we were certainly outplayed. We didn't get to grips with their midfield and I still can't work out why we are playing our 'flying winger' Tyler Campbell in midfield??? The front 2 seemed very isolated as they had no width other than the full backs/wing backs and very little options to bring people in to the game. Why do we keep throwing Mark Kirby up front to chase a game? I can understand for the last 5 minutes but last night it was for the best part of half an hour and all we did was lump long balls up to him. We saw from our goal the way to play, good patient build up, into Liam's feet, a great cross from Smyth and a goal. GB clearly doesn't rate the other forwards/wingers he has at the club because they have sat on the bench unused for the best part of 3 months now!

I assume you're being ironic given his inability to tell the difference between an assistant flagging for a goal and for offside. Particularly when the ball had been crossed from the goal line and then played by a defender making offside totally impossible.

A disappointing performance last night. We appear to have lost the momentum from our last two wins. I am sure the 2 week break has played a large part. Met police were well organised, sharp and clearly the better side. Let's not forget, prior to last night we have taken 7 points from 9. We need to re-group and go into Saturday's game with the same confidence and the mindset as before.

Outplayed & outfought all over the pitch.First half Met Police attacked time & again down our left and it was from there that they scored.

It looked like we were playing 3-5-2 or 5-3-2 whatever way you look at it, totally agree with CD Towner regarding Tyler. He is a winger and runs at players, yes he had 1 or 2 moments from a central role doing this but playing him in the centre is not his position. We were continuously over-ran in the middle of midfield with Tyler out of position and Ewang having possibly his worst performance in a Town shirt.

In regards to the Kirby comment going upfront I think half hour is a bit exaggerated, I think it is a benefit as it gives us a bit more aerial threat and when you are a goal or 2 down with 15 to go its what you have to do. However I do question why when Kirbs went upfront why Noel continued to lump it to Liam? Surely the point of Kirbs being up top is so he can be the target!! Also I am not a fan of switching Bradley into defence, yes if we've used all subs and have no alternative when pushing Kirbs forwards but  to take Lee White off who's been one of our most consistent players to bring on Corey was a strange one. Keep Bradley in the centre with Mitch who came on and did well and have Tyler & Corey on the wings why we kept Ewang on only George & Barry know.

If only Mitch's 25 yard screamer had gone in rather than hit the bar we could have stolen a point from the police :)
