London Lions!?

Recommended Posts

We have since been told that our game against London Lions will have to be replayed.

Turning into a joke league! If you don't fancy it just tell them you cant get a team out.

If London Lions could not raise a team and the game is to be re-scheduled then it would make a mockery of suspensions.

Imagine if a team was missing a key player through suspension for a crucial game and that game is postponed only for it to be re-scheduled on a date when that player is free to play.

Broxbourne pulled out against us last minute. They've already had the special dispensation from the league, absolute joke.

The main problem we had with this was that London Lions were fielding a Reserve side over at London Colney that night!?! They would have fulfilled that fixture if it had not been for the weather.

Also been told that the Reserves and Firsts operate as individual teams...

Someone else had been totting up the non fulfillment fines recently. Was it Brimsdown? As far as I'm aware the fine gets bigger with each cancellation. £250, £500, £750 etc rings a bell.

I guess the end result if they don't pay is a ban for all the registered players from all football

SSMFL Rule 8.6. Any Club without just cause failing to fulfil an engagement to play a Competition match on the appointed date shall for each offence be liable to expulsion from the Competition and / or such disciplinary action the Board may determine, including the deduction of up to a maximum of three points from the offending Club's record, any expenses incurred by their opponents, and a fine.

SSMFL Fines Schedule: Failure to fulfil a fixture - £250 minimum - £1,000 maximum.

So theoretically, having failed to fulfil the St Mags and Biggleswade Utd fixtures, they could be (at least) £500 worse off, and have had six points deducted!! This would put them comfortably below Hatfield Town at the foot of the table.

The league table does not show any deductions for London Lions. You would think that after all the postponements no games would be rescheduled for a team who non fulfills a game.
