The kids of today are no different than the kids of anyother generation. I was not knocking them. All kids(including me a few years ago) know (or think they do/did)more than their parents. Its all part of growing up!

I went to boarding school were we were taught 'Respect and Trust', BUT that respect had to be EARNT not expected. Before 'Er Indoors went into the Mental Health field of employment, she had many happy years working as a school supervisor. Even today, we get kids, (kids ? 19-22 years old), coming up to us in the Street. "Good Morning/Afternoon Mrs R......" This results in long chats about how they are getting on.

 

"Who's that ?" I'll ask.

 

"Oh, that's so and so. Was a right little s*d at school, but I pointed him in the right direction !" She'll answer.

 

Even today, we get friends of our daughters chatting to us about their problems, either because they don't have parents they can turn too, or because their parents aren't interested.
