Players Dads? ... I thought it was an adults side being run over there?

Thank the lord Mr Monkeymonkey doesnt get as upset and stressed as that when people give there opinions about St.Mags otherwise he'd be having a daily breakdown.

Still - good luck to the Ampthill mob, bring it home.

What can I say, when it comes to football, I'm a purist. I wanted to see Hanwell FC progress and represent ssml, not the pre-historic, aggressive kick and rush playing style of Ampthil. That being said I wish them all the luck in the world, but tback to my original post, I don't think they will have enough to beat Eastbourne. I'm with Rhodes, couldn't have asked for a tougher draw.

As a side note, I'm not a former player's dad. I couldn't tell you what I'd give to see my son play football, I'd be happy if he even showed a slight bit of interest in it. And by the sounds of the chants Ampthill fans were singing the other week, I don't think they'd accept him at the club.

If anybody cares to ask Dunstable town fc who is the best team they have played all season I know we will be up there, we played  football on both occasions and we won 3-0 both times, enough said.

Posts like this will only encourage them to carry on digging your team...don't know why you bother.

Former Number 9, Ampthill FC and Justice For You:

Don't take the bait. We all know Ampthill are a great club. Lovely ground making inprovements to it all the time, great people, great side. And if you do play long balls(which I'm not sure you do) who cares? I certainly don't. Just happy to have a great club in our league Playing well.

Reb H:

I like your informative posts, but please don't turn Into another Rhodes with your obsessions

Ampthill should at least have a good day out at Eastbourne United even if they come back empty handed, it sounds from another Forum like a nice venue:

Also at Eastbourne United, tidy and functional if uninspiring ground, friendly locals and nice to meet Eastbourne from this forum.

Morpeth were a disgrace, constantly niggling and spoiled the game and I feel sorry for those that made the 750 mile round trip to support them. Eastbourne got on with the task at hand and eased through Morpeth's shambolic defence at will.

I was looking forward to a competitive, hard fought game. Good day out though with GrumpyD at the helm in the company of Villan and ZuluDave. The latter was particularly impressed by Brighton pier as we entered Eastbourne....

Everyone should get behind Ampthill. They are our last representatives in the SSML and I hope they go all the way. They may not be everyone's cup of tea (including me) but a lot of the sniping by other clubs supporters is likely born out of jealousy or envy that they have done so well compared to their side. I bet all of them wish they were still living the dream of their local club going to play at Wembley

I see no reason why they cannot go to Eastbourne and get a positive result. They need to be brave, play with no fear and get a bit of luck. Here's hoping they get it

A report on the Eastbourne United v Morpeth Town tie from Eastbourne's website, clearly it's not going to be a walk in the park for Ampthill:

This is the most pointless comment ever!!! It won't be a walk in the park at the Quarter Final stage of the FA Vase for any team, Craig Bicknell and Co will be doing their homework and preparing properly, I wish them all the luck in the world and hopefully for the whole of the SSMFL they can get a positive result.

I read this piece in today's Non League paper and it could possibly give Ampthill Town a psychological advantage at Eastbourne:

Eastbourne United AFC assistant manager Scott Price has been charged for improper conduct after an offensive message was sent to former England and Arsenal left back Kenny Sansom from his mobile telephone. But Price will contest the charge brought by the Sussex FA claiming a friend sent the tweet after taking the phone. Price whose team beat Morpeth 6-1 to reach the FA Vase quarter finals said, 'someone grabbed my phone while I was watching the football', Price added he had contacted Sansom and the matter had been sorted.
