They are in the league below East Preston who were still in the draw and top of division 1.

To be honest though at this stage of the competition they will all be tough draws and only a home draw is preferable.

eastbourne might be better in terms of being able to go and watch ahead of the tie.

I assume that Ampthill will stay overnight in a hotel if it's Morpeth Town

Will you be strengthening the squad in preparation for the game Ampthill? One good player from the division above could make all the difference!

Is that permitted? If a player, from the Division above, has played in the FA Trophy - I guess they will be 'cup tied' - and there may also be a 'signature deadline' for each round. I'll wait for Rhodes to let me know.............

Blimey, Morpeth is a bit of a journey!

Yes, I expect Ampthill are hoping that it will be Eastbourne United

Eastbourne United beat Morpeth Town 6-1

Yes, it couldn't be a tougher quarter final tie for Ampthill Town could it, a report from another Forum:

FA Vase 5th Round

Eastbourne Utd Association 6 (7, 24, 33, 41, 75 & 78)

Morpeth Town 1 (54. Reds on 2, 86 & 89)

KO: 15:00 Att: not seen official attendance. I didn't bother with h/c. Cost: £5 Progs: Free

Venue: The Oval, Channel View Road, Eastbourne

3 floodlight poles each side. Fully railed with extra vertical rails in places to prevent ball leaving field of play. Hardstanding all round. Outside of ground sees wooden panelled fences. Near side has in one half a small covered Atcost stand with 4 wide rows of metal terracing. In the other half is the same except it has 4 rows of covered seats. Either side & inbetween are grass areas. Behind is a clubhouse & the other side of a fence is a building which has refreshments & you can go inside. The other 3 areas just have grass areas. Most of ground has houses around it except behind one goal. This has further away a small fun fair & a seafront apartment.

Match: 1st out of 17 (lost 1 in 20 league games) in Sussex County League Division 2 (STEP 6) v 18th out of 23 in EBAC Northern League Division 1 (STEP 5)

A few boggy patches dotted around the pitch. Some tackles flew in & after 27 seconds was a punch up. After a yellow card to each team the ref gave a straight red on 2:42 to MT player. Another foul saw another yellow & it was obvious that MT weren't here to play football. From the free kick EUA scored. On 19mins MT player hacked down EUA player & MT were fortunate that it was only a yellow. A minute later the ref had a word with a the MT dugout followed by a EUA player getting a yellow. Then ref spoke to MT dugout again or it may have been the 4th official if there was one. Surprisingly EUA went 3-0 up with shot count at 3-0 as well. MT had 1st shot on 28mins & then they hit the bar. They then made a double substitution. EUA scored a cracking 4th goal. The dirty northern ******** then tried arguing with the officials as they left for h/t but a couple of stewards prevented this. MT had been fortunate to only have 3 yellows & 1 red. Shots 6-2.

It wasn't long before normal service was resumed as MT got another yellow. They had a spell of pressure & scored a consolation. Almost immediately EUA were denied by the gk & then MT had a glorious chance to score again but they hit the bar on 60mins. Just before EUA scored twice more they looked as though they were about to get a clear chance but an awful offside decision was given by the lino. Later on a flurry of yellows & 2 more reds followed for MT. Both times the red carded players left the pitch & verbals were exchanged with the crowd. The ref blew for full-time a couple of seconds after the 90. I think this was to save the game from being abandoned due to MT having insufficient numbers. Shots 6-3.

At the end 8 stewards were required due to MT whinging & whining. They should count themselves lucky to only have got 9 yellows & 3 reds. They were a disgrace. EUA got 2 yellows.

It was to say the least an extremely lively game. Glad to see EUA progress after what I witnessed.

Strengthening the team. Yep we will sign someone and leave out a player that has fought for 7 months to get us where we are. Craig is very strong on loyalty and he gives it back to his players. They got us to the quarter finals and win or lose they will get the chance to play.

The perfect answer.............

Strengthening actually don't sound such a bad idea after the last two results ...
