V Aylesbury Utd 15/2/14

Slough Kitman

Recommended Posts

Rebels 5, Ducks 3.

Great win after a 10-day break. I listened to the excellent commentary on YouTube. I see this feature was highlighted across non-league circles via twitter, so hopefully we got some through traffic there. Sounded like it was a cracking game with an exciting finish, Cannot wait to see the highlights!

I'd rather be a Rebel than a Duck, quack, quack!

If you were a neutral watching that game,it would have been a treat. As a Slough fan,I was always apprehensive when Aylesbury United  attacked,as our defence seemed shaky against them and looked like they would concede a goal to them every time they got near our goal. Also funny given that I thought Sean Fraser and Ryan Parsons both had good games.

That said Slough played excellent football throughout and deserved the victory IMO.

Wazza Harris was a constant threat to Aylesbury[and I'm sure to many fans,he will be their MOTM]. Ed Smith was back to his best but my man of the match has to be Leigh Rumbold who put in a great performance in the centre of midfield.

Thought our managers got the substitutions spot on although Scott Harris can count himself unlucky,as he scored a great individual goal and was worth his starting place in the team.He put in a good shift while he was on.

Johnny Dyer came on and gave the team a lift straight away with his first touch being a goal.

As for Aylesbury United, thought their experienced manager and coach have put together a very good young side who are certainly one of the better teams we've played this season and from their perspective will think they've been hard done by with the 5-3 scoreline.

Well done the Rebels, another 3 points in the bag.

I thought we played some excellent stuff, only let down by some shaky defending which enabled the Ducks to always have a webbed foot-hold in the game.

2-0 at half time would have been about right and not taking anything away from a good, plucky Aylesbury team, ultimately I thought we could and should off ran out more convincing winners.

Some good performances including Clurgs, Ryan Parsons, Sean Fraser, Wheels and Wazza but for a quite superb performance from start to finish in midfield my MOTM was without doubt Leigh 'Rummy' Rumbold.

COYR!!

Agree with Marcus that both teams looked strong in attack but vulnerable at the back. A 5-3 scoreline would reinforce that view.

A cracking game of football that I really enjoyed irrespective of the goals. I thought Rumbold was superb but agree with Ryan as MOM. The number of covering blocks, tackles and clearances he put in was amazing.

Well done to the whole team for a fantastic game.

Ed Smith Mom for me, involved in all the goals but agree that Rummy and R Parsons were both excellent - good signings that have both helped turn our form around. Some of our football was top draw today. He got a bit of stick but I thought the ref was excellent today. Let the game flow.

The ref always gets stick. There was a point during the 2nd half where the Slough fans were screaming for a yellow for a supposed elbow then minutes later ignored a late challenge from Ed Smith that badly caught the Aylesbury player. Either both yellow or neither in my opinion.

Personally I thought all the officials had a great game.

In the first 30 minutes of the game,Slough played the best football of the season IMO, since Bakes and Unders arrived on the scene but we were never going to be able to sustain this level of performance against such a well organised, capable team,as Aylesbury United are.

On the referee,I thought he blew up for relative nothing tackles and missed some cynical ones. However,I agree he did keep the game flowing, unlike many of the officials we have to endure these days.

I got pissed off with the Aylesbury number 4.He kept falling over for nothing and making out he was tripped.

In fact, I think a small breeze blew him over, then he tripped over his boot lace and then a blade of grass got in the way ! lol!

It was as if he was wearing skates instead of boots ! And to think he was wearing their captain's armband !

A strange choice of captain in my eyes.

Seems strange to say it after we scored five , but there was still an element of grinding out a result. There were some great individual performances, notably Leigh Rumbold having his best game in a Slough shirt. Warren was also a strong contender for MOTM with such an incredible work rrate and both full backs also put in sound shifts.

We still seem second to the ball in too many instances and dont always react in situations where what are usually called"seconds" are there to be won but overall we are still in contention for play offs and it is good to know that management and players genuinely believe we will do it.

Comforting that Dunstable lost yesterday while we are keeping momentum prior to our meeting next weekend.
