SURREY ELITE LEAGUE

Virginia Water v Yateley United is ON

Yateley won 1-0. Fancy VWFC getting a game on and no CCL clubs!

Also, today at Wibbandune.

Esher 4-6 Merton Social (AET)

Kingston League Intermediate Shield.

Maybe all CCL Clubs should get a lorry load of sand in,it seems to be doing the trick at Colliers Wood, not the first game played there either,Balham Blazers v Molesey u18 played there recently..Can remember when sand was a regular feature of getting games on.On the plus side for me,saving a fortune, and am totally T.TOTAL.

That Balham v Molesey game ended 11-5 by the way!

This "sand" issue.

It is a top dressing and backfill (60 metric tonnes added in December) which is part of the new drainage contract that went in last summer. It is a sand/soil mix which will, eventually disappear underneath the grass growth which will kick on in a month or so when the ground and air temperatures rise. Our ground is closing on 12th April after our final home game (we have four left) to allow maximum time for this grass progression. Unlike Premier League clubs' options of resolving this, this was the cheapest option available to us via the funding we, gratefully, received thanks to the hard work of our club committee and exterior personnel. We, simply, had to do it or leave our ground. This has meant that other important ground projects have had to be shelved but we already have plans to resolve those to make the Wibbandune experience a better one for all visitors. We are grateful to the league for their patience as well, as we were quite candid regarding our plight and the likely outcome if we weren't allowed some time to remedy the issue. The support of other CCL clubs, in particular Cobham FC, will not go forgotten either!
