Basil-Don
will the five money grabbing liars who accussed him now get prosecuted ?? no and they can keep their identities secret. no doubt all five already had exclusive contracts signed with the gutter press to sell their stories. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-26068034
missunderstood
I hope this not guilty doesn't stop other abused woman from reporting this type of crime, and IMO looking into the possibility of making it a crime not to report sexual assaults straight away should be considered, to protect future potential victims. I always thought it strange that these woman waited fifty odd years to report the alleged crimes, and I would imagine that most men crossed the boundaries of what would be socially unacceptable today, but was considered little more than high jinks all those years ago. I hope William Roach can now live his life in peace, but fear he will always be tainted by people that think there's no smoke without fire. Basil-Don
while you have Chequebook Journalism you will always have these cases which of course as mentioned do no favours for the genuine victims.

If we want a free press where the rich and powerful can be exposed because of their greed, hypocrisy, or illegality, then chequebook journalism is an acceptable tool that will always have a place, because whistleblowers often suffer as much as the perpetrators, and deserve financial recompense for their bravery.
