Horace
R.I.P. big man. I have two wonderful memories involving Tony. One, when he re-signed for Notts County in the early 70s at a time when I went to Meadow Lane a lot. While queueing with the 20,000 crowd to get in (Hateley's return attracted around 15,000 extra fans), the gateman was calling "exact money only folks". A wag in front of me cried "Last week you would have taken washers!" The other was earlier, listening to a Liverpool game on the radio. The game was being played in thick fog and the crowd couldn't see the far end. Liverpool scored and the crowd at the other end began chanting "Who scored the goal, who scored the goal?". To which the crowd who had been able to see replied "Tony Hateley, Tony Hateley". Legend.
