Player Banned

Recommended Posts

I have just seen on Twitter that a WGC player has had a 2 game ban for tweeting something about another club.

How can this be justified? I've seen players ripping other clubs apart on Twitter with no consequences.

Are there any laws in place regarding Social Media?

Lucky it's only a 2 match ban and probably from All Football.

Twitter is the cause of many a problem for managers now days.

Players who you think left on good terms tweeting what's right and wrong about the football club, just an excuse to rant!

Or going home after a game and getting stuck into the team you played that day...

Really can't see the issue with this. It's just a personal opinion and as long as it's not the official club account posting stuff, what's the problem? Football at all levels is becoming far too sanitized and PC friendly. Whatever happened to rivalry and decent banter? I have been the victim of an official club account having a go at me as a fan but am man enough to laugh it off and carry on without being that guy who reports them to the relevant FA/league. More comedy and banter is needed in footie or it will die of boredom.

We had an obsessive amount of messages on twitter from sun postal players and their club account, pretty poor banter at best in fact embarrassing actually (especially one players obsession with Perry and Wellie boots, I think he may have confusing feelings for Perry possibly) but why would we report it? Just let them get on with it and nobody cares, seems petty to then report players for this, just got to wait till the next game to shit them up surely! As poster above says if it's not the official view of the club how can you take any action? People seem to think they can't be offended these days, it's bizarre. Just get on with it. If there are any threats or that type of thing that needs to be dealt with.

Who ever reported it obviously objected to the 'F' word bring posted with regards to another SSML club.

I admit some things are allowed to go unpunished because the matter is never reported to the local FA involved, our player was guilty of foul and abusive language directed at another SSML club and got caught. End of matter.

Somebody accused a club close to me of making disparaging remarks to an opposing supporter over twitter this season. The Herts FA rightly threw the complaint out immediately and reminded the complainer of their own future conduct via social media

Our club got a £50 fine for calling another club (not SSML) a disgrace after having 7 players booked and 3 sent off and the official than abandoning the YOUTH game. We thought using the word "disgrace" was stating the obvious and mild in comparison to what we really thought, but the FA thought differently

Couldn't agree more BigDogCal. Wish they had the common sense approach like yourself. You can't say/write anything these days without someone claiming to be offended!

I know you have to stay impartial Kath as it's a player from your club, but I know deep down, that you probably share mine and the Big Dog's opinion that this is a little OTT. Over the course of the season, I'm sure ALL players/management are guilty of "foul and abusive language directed at another SSML club"!

PS. Big Dog, is that a professional head shot as your profile picture? Are you a character actor or TV extra? As I know someone who could probably get you a fair bit of work.

I'm in the TV extra game myself and could do with getting my head shot re-done, who did yours?

Some players just don't help themselves. Saw one tweet last night from a Newport Pagnell player tell Corby to f off & saying they were a pi$$y little club & then copying in the official league twitter account!

I'm not in the TV game and the pic was taken by a friend but thanks for the kind words. Made my day!
