Tom
Slough Town Football Club are looking to raise money to improve the training facilities available at the Polish Club. The Rebels have been based at the Polish Association in Church Lane, Stoke Poges, for many years, and now the Club is asking supporters to help with funds to improve the changing room facilities and help with much needed maintenance. The Club are looking to raise £300 towards the maintenance costs, with any extra monetary donations given to the Club’s youth football teams who have been let down by a shirt sponsor this season. Supporters can contribute to the fund here http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=DWTWJAS5PJ8UE
Stuntman Mark
A bit worrying that the club can't find the money for this but more than happy to weigh in. Is there a way to pay other than paypal? If I wanted to give cash tonight who should I seek out?
Tom
I would look to seek out Steve Easterbrook or any other member of the management committee to hand a donation over in person.
Manor Park Rebel
I agree with Stuntman Mark. It seems somewhat alarming that the club has to ask for donations to pay such a relatively small bill. Is there reason to be worried?
Tom
Nothing to be alarmed about and I'm sure if you asked Steve himself he would happily confirm this. As we all know the clubs finances are hamstrung by it's current plight away from the town, as such costs for projects such as this that are away from direct funding of the team and what you see on the pitch aren't always possible to undertake. £300 may seem like a small bill but when every penny is scrutinised it becomes unaffordable hence looking for donations be it monitory or time. Rebel Kay
I think we all recognise that times are hard for everyone at present. This is reflected in the amount of sponsorship, donations etc that the club is able to raise. Every year we work hard to promote the club with local businesses to attract this kind of funding. Over the years it has become harder to get sizable donations, so it seems prudent to explore every avenue. By asking people to make small contributions to specific projects it is hoped that more people can support us in a small way, and see where their contributions are going. Steve Easterbrook
When I mentined to a few supporters that we were looking to give some money to the polish club for them to renovate the changing rooms many said they would like to contribute. Indeed some said that where expenses arise during a season that have not been budgeted for they would only be pleased to contribute and help out. Also the youth club has lost a sponsor that was going to sponsor their teams for this season. I saw this as a simple way to let any supporters who wish to contribute to do so. readingrebel
Any news on how this is progressing? Also, how did the MyFC vote go?
calvados
Any news on how this is progressing? Also, how did the MyFC vote go? I put £20 into the pot. It was the picture that popped up when I logged onto the club web site that convinced me. I'd like to say that I've seen worse, but outside of that place in Bulgaria I really can't. I think the membership of MyFC asked for things to have a whip round for. This would be one of them. There hasn't been a vote.
Steve Easterbrook
I will provide an update later this week - donations via the STFC website have been a bit slower that I thought - however have received some donations in cash and cheques. Also some companies and people have stepped forward to promote some of the youth teams (who as I indicated lost a main sponsor at start of season). Thanks to everyone who has been able to contribute, the club is really grateful. Every bit helps so if you can donate any amount that would be great! HEAVY TRUCKER
not surprising things on the main website are a bit slow , as things on the pitch are at the moment delayed and the link to this web site being removed, people are not having to go to the main club site, so are not seeing the banner. GarySTFC
The link doesn't need to be on the club site to here. It's an unofficial forum and the club would rather not have this MB online at all if they had the chance. There's enough people providing links from here back to the club site anyway. That's a great shame if the club still can't accept this message board now.Thought this forum had made great progress in that direction, after trying to bring some order to recent proceedings. After all the Chairman and our joint managers are back posting on here. There's always going to be one or two controversial threads/posts each month but that's what a fans forum is about. The club need to accept that technology has brought fan's opinions out by this medium and that they can't hide in the dark ages by pretending the forum doesn't exist. Surely it's better to be pro-active together than alienate the very supporters that keep the club going !
Hammer_rebel
How are we getting on with this? Maybe it needs to be pinned to remind every one! Great to see when I went on site that it came up!
