readingrebel
Unfortunately both SYCOB and Royston won today. Our mammoth task has got that bit harder. Got to hand it to the team that we sponsor, they just keep churning out the results.
OLDER RAM
Thanks for the back handed compliment RR, but "THE RAMS" done you a huge favour beating Daventry today, but lets face it , it really is getting obvious now, i've been saying it for years, your team could learn so much from "the pub team". We are far ahead of you as a team, and if it wasn't for our small fan base we would be known as the bigger club. When teams come to Holloways Park there is only one team they fear and thats "THE RAMS", at least we give teams a game and dont roll over like Slough seem to do. C'MON YOU RAMS ! Irishadrian
I am still optimistic about our chances for the plays offs Only 7 of the 17 remaining games are against teams in the top half of the table( and we do quite well against them) and we still have to play teams currently 17th 18th 19th twice 20th 21st and 22nd The fit again and recently tweaked squad are well capable of reaching the playoffs imo

Neil Baker
Not a great set of results with Royston and Beaconsfield winning... however we are working on the worst case scenario (that everyone wins all their games in hand, which in reality will probably not happen) that we are effectively having to make up 8 points to get in the play offs, which is achievable with 17 games to go (that is on Royston and we still have to play them at home) The beauty with so many teams being in the hunt for play offs, not every team can win every week, so people will be dropping points most weeks (obviously that can be us also, but we don't have an awful lot of room for error) I think having 4 fit forwards will be very important going into the back end of the season, and if we can keep them on their toes, we always have a chance. Eddie Smith who is our top scorer has missed half our league games this season, Johnnie Dyer who is second in the scoring charts has also missed about 10 league games. We had our skipper out injured the most of the early part of the season, and then every player with the exception of Jamie McClurg and Guy Hollis have missed games due to injury. We have had our toughest season to date (Jon and I) however we are still in with a chance, and we have to take the positives from it and really come together as a club, and try and push us over the line. The first year in management that our team got in the play offs at Godalming we were about 14 points off the play offs at this stage, but won 10 of our last 13 games, and ended up getting in by 6 points. Anything can happen in football!!! Just have to remain positive.
Graham C
Neil--good to see you are still keeping the faith.....we are too, tho it does get harder so to do !
Irishadrian
Yes Neil good to see the belief is still there People do seem to forget that although we have had some dire results against lowly opposition its rarely been when you've been able to select anything like your optimum team The current squad when all fit and available can achieve the playoffs
3spirit
Yes Neil good to see the belief is still there People do seem to forget that although we have had some dire results against lowly opposition its rarely been when you've been able to select anything like your optimum team The current squad when all fit and available can achieve the playoffs Last season's squad under Steve Bateman also struggled to beat the lower teams, too,so it's nothing new. I agree,Irishadrian, that Slough have a squad capable of getting us to the play-offs and possibly beyond.Whether this can be achieved this season, from now, given the form of other teams around us and that we still have to play Aylesbury twice, featuring many of our ex-players is debatable. This fact has added an even harder dimension to our goal for this season While I sincerely wish and hope that the task to make play offs is forthcoming,I'm also realistic enough to think that if our efforts are unsuccessful, that I won't be too disheartened, being that this is a new team put together this season, from management to players, and that we've undergone budget restrictions. So Neil and Jon,you're in a win/win situation with me.The only flaw to this rhetoric,is if the players don't perform and the team are crap in their efforts to beat teams ! ha ha ha ! OLDER RAM
Unfortunately Old Ram, your lot will always be a pub team with a tiny fan base made up of friends and family members, destined to return to obscurity when we eventually depart the wilderness that is Holloways Park. I think RR you are more concerned about what happens off the field, how many people watch and where you play. At the moment Slough are a poor team, and all the excuses about injuries is getting tiresome and boring, perhaps if more time was spent constructing a better team with a better work ethic. Then when the team started to do well, the off the field problems would resolve themselves, at the end of the day its about winning games, and your not doing that, but "THE RAMS" are. Why is that ?, is it because we have a bigger budget ? NO !, its because our team are an honest, organized and hard working group. Keep on playing as you are and It wont be long before your crowds, which are dwindling, are average like most clubs in this division, and then a new ground wont even be an option ! C'MON YOU RAMS ! I'm with 3spirit on this. Although I'll be disappointed if we don't make the play-offs it won't be the end of the world. It's our first season with a new management team and players and I'm sure if we don't make it this season I have every faith in Bakes and Unders getting it right next season. Having said that, there are still a lot of points to be won and dropped and if we can go on a winning run, you just never know what will happen. Bernie Gogan
Older Ram or Hotspur, good luck with promotion, hope you go up and continue to do us favours by beating other promotion hopefuls. Your "average" attendances will undoubtedly spiral upwards.......... Final thought, you could well be driving us away to ground share somewhere else.
