Fixtures Saturday 25th January

Recommended Posts

A really nasty storm hit Bedfont & Feltham FC at around 16:25 and the game was held up for around 15 mins it was really bad very heavy rain and it was really windy the rain was freezing I was hiding behind the dug outs with the Ref, players were behind the stands it was chaos players and officals were running every where the rain was so heavy you couldn't see a thing I was drenched right through but they finished the game which Bedfont & Feltham won 6-1 with four goals by ex Hanwell Town player Javonne Molloy.

Bedfont & Feltham played some very good football and were by far the better team Sheerwater could not get near to Bedfont & Feltham it was a very one sided game but a good game it was good to see ex Hanwell Town players Javonne Molloy, Jon-Barrie Bates and Michael Kinsella playing for Bedfont & Feltham today.

Always enjoy my visits to the club.

Cheers Savage. Thanks for coming down

Haven't been on here for a while but ive got to express my feelings about the conditions yesterday and colliers wood pitch. This is not sour grapes as firstly I would like to say well done to colliers for the result. We didnt turn up 1st half and were 3-0 down. We had a go second half and were camped in colliers box for 25 mins got one goal and should of got a couple more but for good defending/goal keeping and poor shooting from ourselves.

Then the hurricane came. Ref made the right decision but stopping the game fir ten mins as even a tree broke and fell onto the pitch. Well done ref.

Now the pitch, this is not a dig at colliers as I know they have spent a lot of money to sort.

Firstly it was probably 1inch deep of sand across half to 3 quarters of the pitch. We lost 3 players yesterday with long term injuries, ankle, quad and terrible knee injury which resulted in being stretchered off. And im sure that the pitch assisted massively with these injuries as the players were getting buried in sand. For players safety this is not good enough

Correct me if I am wrong but I think that the referee has final say if the pitch is safe to play on or not and horrific injuries can happen even on the best pitches so to be fair I think the moan about injuries is probably a bit out of order

Before commenting perhaps have a look and a walk on the pitch. I know injuries can happen anywhere but if you watched how the players concerned got stuck in the sand you would understand.

As I said its down to the ref I don't need to look at the pitch I think it's a bit harsh to blame a pitch for injury "massively assisted" when the injuries you are describing can happen on any surface and I have seen their pitch and played on it when it was a lot worse

When this picture was being taken I was hiding behind the dug out soon to be joined by the ref I kid you not.

Thanks Bronco and DBM, I've just been delayed as I was updating my website www.eefconline.co.uk

The match report is available there, or on this link http://www.eefconline.co.uk/LCN38.html

For what it's worth, I knew that Alton would give us a good game and said so in the match preview I submitted here on Friday. I'm not quite sure how it finished 0-3 but we didn't do enough to get in front, and when Alton took the lead after 70 we really struggled, and although two late goals flattered the visitors, they were well deserving of something from the game.

For Epsom's part, we have now had three home games this season against teams in the bottom three (Bedfont Sports and Horley were fourth from bottom when we played them) and we have lost all three, Chessington, Wembley and now Alton. It is also noticeable that we have lost 8 games this season, but seven of them have been at Chipstead and only once have we been defeated away from home (Farnham 12th October).

Without a doubt we had a bad day at the office. Was it because we were on a high after defeating South Park? Was it because we looked at the table and thought the game would be easy, as Stan and the CCLLegends twitter site thought would be the case? Was it because we struggle against a high tempo, hard working side? Was it just a freak result?

I have my own views but why would I put those up here for our future opposition to read? :)

All I will say is that Alton Town will not go down this season, and the general consensus at Epsom was that they played better against us than South Park did on Tuesday. They are unbeaten in nine and I hope they play some other top sides soon while they are in form as both ourselves and Windsor could testify. Maybe Camberley had a lucky escape with last week's postponement......

On a non-footballing matter, a tree came down outside High Road just as the game was concluding. If it had been thirty yards further down the road it would have come down on the main stand. I doubt Alton would have been happy with an 89th minute abandonment!!
