Rhodes
FA have confirmed Edgware town will be in SSML div one next season. Just be released on their Twitter site. Yes, great news for all concerned particularly the SSML as the re-emergence of Edgware Town will create huge interest
Baldock_Town
Nothing against ETFC and wish them well, but that is a disgrace. The only reason any team should not start at Step 7 is for safety reasons, I.e they have too many fans for step 7 club facilities to accommodate safely. Absolutely 100% agree. We were Southern League when we folded in 2001 and started right at the bottom again in 2003. It took us until last season to get to Step 6 and we were even denied promotion one of those seasons because we had a fence around the 3G pitch. All the best to Edgware Town, as Munchkin says, nothing against them as a club, but the right should be earned to play at Step 6.
Winslow Boy
Good luck to them but that is a disgraceful decision how can any new club go in at that level?
Rhodes
Just accept and celebrate the decision folks, you should all be delighted for Edgware Town

Max
Whilst I appreciate it's the Fa decision to place edgeware at step 6 , so I wish edgeware well, but surely clubs at the AGM can vote not to accept them ?
petethegreek
How is promotion / relegation affected between the Divisions if Edgware Town enter the SSML at Step 6?
Karen Browne
The League Constitution has to be passed at the AGM - all clubs will receive a copy of proposed constitution once it has been decided prior to the AGM
Max
Thanks Karen , so if clubs want to send a message to the FA they could vote against the constitution with Edgeware in it ???

Ilovenonleague
This is my first post. I never thought I'd post on this forum as I enjoyed simply just reading posts from fellow nonleague lovers. But this subject has forced my hand. I don't understand how Edgware Town are getting all this negativity? The Spartan League & it's clubs should be embracing a great non-league club. It puzzles me as to why there is sometimes so much bitterness on this forum. I for one am pleased for a club that went out of business & is now trying to get back on its feet. People are quick to feel sorry & argue when a football club goes out of business. But now one of these clubs is back, people are kicking them in the stomach before they have even started? Yes, there are leagues/steps below this one that Edgware could/should have started at. But it looks like they are going to be a Spartan League club & I for one am happy for them. Ealing Town have also been placed in the Spartan League but not one "this s a disgrace" post about them? What is it about Edgware that people have a problem with? It's certainly not a disgrace. It's great for Edgware & the Spartan League. Unfortunately, in football, sometimes people/fans don't like seeing other teams doing well or getting a break. I say well done Edgware Town. Monkey8
Don't want to get into a war of words but if your having to ask what's everyone's problem then you clearly haven't had a read of the posts above.
Munchkin
Firstly welcome to the forum. Ok let's get the facts right. I didn't say I was against Edgware and wished them well and I don't think people are against edgware as a club. The issue isn't with Edgware. Ealing will be in Division 2, based on Karens post, I.e step 7 so not the same thing. I would have said the same if Winslow or Broxbourne were placed in Division 1 when they returned but they weren't they played in Division 2. They both got lucky with promotion, eh WB

Ilovenonleague
I apologise if my post seemed in any way aggressive. That was not its purpose. And I can see that people/clubs who are working hard to try & get to certain levels/steps may see this as a kick in the teeth & think why bother? But surely people must know that in this day & age it's hard enough to keep a nonleague club going let alone start one up again. The club has a previous history & if I'm not mistaken was probably one of the best ever Spartan League clubs. I'm sure the FA will have looked into their plans/finances & deemed them to be a worthy Step 6(?) football club. So all things considered, I think the level is just about right for them. Believe it or not, I have no affiliation to Edgware. I just think they deserve a break. But I understand that if I were in division 2 or even 1, I'd think " hang on a minute......." Anyway, these are just my opinions be they right or wrong. And I apologise if I offended anyone

boswell
Boswell - I'm not sure what you mean, aren't you delighted for Edgware Town then No, I am not. Div 2 should be their starting level, regardless of their history. And to have a moron like you, tell me I SHOULD be delighted gives it even more of a bad taste.
