andyetfc
Web pages give details of us only having four subs. Would a fifth have made any difference?

Barney
Struck me as one of those games where taking the lead is so important - if the cross/shot that hit the post had gone in, things might have been different. As it was, we conceded first, and it was easy for them to get behind the ball, and near impossible for us to move the ball quickly enough on a very slow and heavy pitch to get behind them. That said, for 30 minutes before the goal, we looked the most likely to score, and on another day, things may have been different. Lots of positives for me, I thought the full backs / wing backs were very good, and it was good to see Ewang and Elmes get 90 minutes - hopefully they'll continue to gain match fitness, as they showed they can both play. Tyler worked very hard up front / off the striker, and with a bit more luck could have got some reward for his effort. I like Quinton at the back as well, he has the quality to put his foot on the ball, and pick a pass. I think we'll do OK on a better pitch against less well organised opposition, we're due a bit of luck too by my reckoning. As someone else said, the fans / Ultras at the moment are playing a big part, and it's great to see 90 minutes worth of support and encouragement, even when things aren't going so well on the pitch. Looking forward to Saturday!
Chase Side Towner
Agreed Barney. Can't fault the work rate and the players you mentioned all played well (as did most of the team). Elmes looks a very assured player on the ball with an excellent touch, great to see Ewang back and both get 90 mins. Tyler and Joe Stevens looked threatening as well. We missed Hope, we've got another very good defender coming in Ryan Doyle, but we'll need to get some attacking threat sooner rather than later.
