Steve U.
Take a look at these pictures from the days when soft pitches and a bit of mud didn't hurt anyone. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2295492/Footballs-golden-years-Think-pitch-Blackpool-poor-shape-You-look-little-lot-.html
The Town Crier
...and just look at all the paying punters enjoying the entertainment. I'm convinced there is NO eveidence that proves a muddy pitch is any more dangerous than a prestine looking summer pitch. When a referee says "it's dangerous" what he really means is that matches played on a "challenging" surface are entertainingly unpredictable but, without doubt, harder to referee and in many cases he doesn't fancy it. The easy option is to pocket the half match fee (or whatever it is) and call it off. Shameful, but the way it is for some.
GazzaBTFC
About time they have a "don't play, don't pay" policy with the officials... ...bet the postponed matches stats will be different, although no one will correlate the stats if they do because the FA are cowards.
