v Chalfont St Peter

Talk about a game of two halves !

Slough were abysmal in the first half and could hardly string a couple of passes together.Out of eleven players only two showed anything, those being Dave Woozley and Warren Harris, who seemed to want to put the effort in.Unlike the others,in particular Jamie McClurg,Adam Foulser,Johnny Dyer and Sean Fraser who had complete stinkers.

Very lucky to go in at half time 1-1.

A truly dreadful performance by Slough. Chalfont were easily the better side in that dire opening period.

I assume the proverbial 'rocket up the arse' by our joint managers at half time changed the way our team played,as in the second 45, we were finally an ' up for it ' team who then proceeded to put Chalfont to the sword.

Johnny Dyer went from zero to hero. Darren Wheeler was superb. Leigh Rumbold started to make challenges and had one of the best headers from outside the penalty area that I've ever witnessed by a midfielder.Definitely worth a goal.Ed Smith showed what we've been missing and deserved his goal.

Thought the managers got the substitutions spot on.Dave Woozley was my MOTM as he played well in both halves.

At full time think all Slough fans would have been relieved, like me, that we got the three points and have left the ground as 'happy bunnies' when it had looked for so long as being a Slough fans worst nightmare.

Well done The Rebels for turning it around.

Wow. Game of two halves. Prooved again my opinion that I have stated many times that most games we have a 20 min session where we can tear anyone apart. Lots of very good performances today. From my perspective it has to be a toss up between parsons and mclovin.

Again more gifts for my lad. So many thanks to phil and lyn!! Slough fans are the best

First half was terrible but once we got our noses in front the confidence came flooding back and we played some excellent stuff and got back to what we do best - getting it out to our wingers who both tore Chalfont apart and put some great balls into the box. Good to see all three strikers scoring and hopefully this will give us some confidence going into two massive away games. COYR!

Just coming back to Stuart, I agree that most were off the pace first half, football is very much a confidence thing, and so much of football is won mentally, and we have been struggling for confidence as of late, and it showed.

Having said that Clurgy was playing today with a bad head cold, and was struggling to get himself going first half, and to be fair second half he really stepped up to the plate, we had talked about changing him at half time as he was really struggling, but he wanted to battle on, and as George was not 100% fit due to a knock in training Tuesday, and Ben was only just coming back from some sciatica problems we decided to go with it.

A good second half performance, but that starts from a great cross from Wazza a great leave from Adam and good finish from Johnnie... you could then visibly see us lift...

Anyway, we now have to go to Barton and replicate the second half performance, however will be very different on what will be a very heavy pitch no doubt.

The transformation from first half to the second was truly amazing.

First half we made Chalfont look world beaters.

We were way off the pace and couldn't pass the ball over a couple of yards.

Second half it was a bit like 10 new players had turned up, brimming with confidence and proceeded to make Chalfont look ordinary with some scintillating football.

Great to see Ed Smith back with a goal.

Excellent second half performances from all the players with Warren Harris my MOTM.

Just like to add that Adam Cornell looks to be a very good addition, great dummy for the second goal and excellent link up play and lay offs with head and foot. I've seen him a few times at Binfield this season and haven't been hugely impressed, but what do I know?!!

Thought Jamie may have a problem, when I saw you,Neil, chatting to him, when leaving the pitch for the half time interval.

Bit of worry this confidence thing. Am in full agreement with you about this,Neil,it was plain to see today,in that awful first half that players were suffering from it.That is why you need experienced players to stand up and try rallying the troops and to stir some of players out of their slumbers.Usually you can count on Adam Foulser and Jamie McClurg for this but today they were both out of sorts until the Slough goals started raining in,then every player wanted the ball.

Ed Smith is key for me,as when he is around,it lifts the whole team and his link play is so important in getting the best out of Johnny Dyer and bringing out our offensive play from centre midfield.

Let's hope Ed is back for the duration of our important  games ahead.Got a feeling we are going to need him !

Still think, though, that when Slough fire on all cylinders, they can beat anyone in this division. The players need to believe in themselves.

Keep their peckers up,Neil !

Thought second half was excellent. Good to see all the strikers score, Cornell I thought was quietly efficient first half, pops up with a goal and it was a beautiful dummy for the second.

Harris and wheels gave the full backs a torrid time. Three's booking changed the game, he was scared to tackle thereafter.

Clurgy I thought second half was excellent, there was a short spell where he was chasing, getting in the faces of the opposition he was everywhere. Think him and Rummy have the makings of a good pair.

Really pleased for the gaffers as everything has been going against us.

Most of all pleased for Dave, club legend and I hope that topped off a good weekend for him.

Does make me laugh [not], that when Slough lose, every man and his dog come on this forum to slag them off and yet when they win, very few post, as we've only mustered one page so far about yesterday's result.

On Martin's point about Jamie McClurg and Leigh Rumbold making a good pair,I think in my head I'm still undecided on this one.

I'm a big fan of Ben Edwards as he tends to break up play and puts the tackles in,giving Jamie the chance to get forward. George and Jamie together tends to mean Jamie playing a holding role.

I would like to see what Leigh can do when Jamie McClurg isn't his partner. To me he looks a tad overweight/short of match fitness but maybe that's just how he is !

I think really you can only judge a player after about 10 games to see what his all round game is.He certainly doesn't seem to be a selfish player,so that can only be a good thing for our team.

Scored five, hit the woodwork twice with great efforts and still trying to add to the score right till the end.One day we will play for 90 minutes and destroy the opposition !

But musnt ignore the fact that we were actually poor in the first half making Chalfont look good especially in the first half hour when our passing was atrocious and awareness totally lacking

Maybe Neil and Jon should say at the start of the game what they obviously said at half time yesterday !

MOTM was Wooz--as someone else said he played well both halves--have a feeling it might have been Ed had he played the whole game

Chris Yes you are quite right about Munday 3 Spirit Sadly that's human nature when things are OK people rarely give praise but when they aren't happy they tend to complain that's the way it is in all walks of life and situations not just commenting on a football match Baks and Unders must really tear their hair out ( well Baks anyway) over how to get consistency in the team As you have said on their day and on their game they will destroy any team in this league (have done so already several times) often followed by a game against poorer opposition when they misfire constantly and are lucky to get even a point. One thing I have noticed that surprised me Only 2 teams in the league have scored more goals than us this season and the highest scorers are only 5 ahead of us No handful of runaway high scorers this season but where we have become used to fortress Slough in defence in recent seasons as of now there are 11 teams half the league that have conceded less goals or the same number as us I do find that a surprise.

really feared the worst 1st half and initially after half time.

was remarkable how much better we looked after getting in front and suddenly we had a swagger about our play and the passing that was non existent 1st half was top notch

finally the players believed in themselves and we ran riot

Cornell showed good glimpses of what he can do at this level and will do him wonders to get a goal so early on. superb dummy for Dyer who is now getting back to form he showed when he couldn't stop scoring. Smith definitely seems to make the whole team believe more and we certainly seem to have far greater sustained pressure spells when he is playing

the task is now to try to take this on and get on a winning run. Barton will be far from easy followed by Northwood but a perfect chance to get ourselves right back in the playoff hunt as although we are back in the playoffs games in hand mean that could change dramatically. fingers crossed our decent form against the better sides so far this season continues and we can make a real statement to show others we are still gunning for that promotion

But my understanding is that you banned people who held different opinions when Slough were bad.

Yesterday was a good result considering the last few games, but I would expect them to beat Chalfont if promotion is on the cards.
