Mr Rebel
Suddenly Aylesbury utd are only 6 points behind us with 3 in hand Have avoided looking at the table recently until now. Don't make for pleasant reading
Neil Baker
Have to agree with you Mr Rebel, does not make for pretty viewing (and not something I have really wanted to look at either), however with so many teams potentially involved, it means there will be a lot of dropped points... You only have to look to this weekend where Royston play Beaconsfield, Daventry play Aylesbury United, Rugby play Kettering and St Ives play Barton... In reality from our point of view, we want Daventry, Dunstable and Rugby to keep winning their games, and fight it out for the other 2 positions. So all to play for, however we fully well know that we need to get on an excellent run of form ASAP to have any chance... I have to say for me personally has been my most frustrating season in management, with the run of injuries that we have had and lack of "luck" or decisions going our way.. however we have to get on with it, get our heads down, and see what we can do... and you can only learn from these type of situations. We all know we are capable of going on unbeaten runs, as proved earlier in the season when we had a full squad but we are up against it now.. amazing to think that only a number of weeks ago, one win would have seen us leapfrog Dunstable to go top of the league, and shows you how quickly it can turn in football. But the lads are ready for it, and we will give it our best shot, starting with Chalfont on Saturday who are always a tough nut to crack. Curtis
If Ed Smith is fit from now until the end of the season and in the starting line-up I would be confident we would make the play-offs:- With Ed starting - Wins 10 Draws 2 Losses 1 GF 38 GA 14 (one loss at Dunstable where he went off injured at 1-1) Without Ed starting - Wins 2 Draws 2 Losses 7 GF 14 GA 19 Startling statistics since I wouldn't in any way consider us a 'one man team'..... but he obviously has a much bigger impact on the team than just the goals he scores. Sir Rebel1965
Need to win 14 out of 18 remaining games to add 42 more points to end up on 82 points which looks about the level required for a play off place maybe. However we have only picked up 40 points from 24 games so far, so a major improvement is required.
