As many supporters as possible are asked to attend next Thursday's meeting (16th January) to discuss the club's current and future position.

For many clubs, times are tough financially and with increasing costs and dwindling attendances it's no different at Hornchurch HQ.

So, we're asking as many supporters as possible to come along next Thursday, 16th January, to the club, listen to the Chairman's report on where we currently are both on and off the field and see what we can do as a community to help the club going forward.

The meeting will start at 7:45pm.

Looking forward to seeing as many of you there as possible.

Shame that nobody seems to know anything about the likely content.

Can someone that goes spread the word on what is raised/discussed?

Clearly a number of people know exactly what the situation is but we don't need to be trawling through the finer detail on a public forum.  All clubs need help whether that's through volunteers investing their time or folk offering financial investment and AFCH is no different.

Just come along on Thursday, see where the club is at and what we can/need to do going forward to help out ...

No worries. I've been in quite a few discussions before around fundraising, increasing crowds, supporting the club etc. and have given my thoughts previously.

I wasn't interested in finer details, just broad areas for discussion e.g. whether more fundamental issues are being discussed such as groundsharing, mergers, ownership etc.

A lot of suggestions have been good.

Problem will always be, What does the Season Ticket holder get?

Orient often give away free tickets as do West Ham.

Seems unfair on those who have always put their hard earned cash up front.

Half time 5 a-sides for local schools may attract paying parents.

Not going to do the pitch much good. Realistically something needs to be done otherwise get used to Ryman league football with the crowds we have. The management have in my opinion have done a great job attracting some of the players we have to put us in withe a chance of going up. However we will be a yo-yo club at best unless the revenue improves. The club has to adapt like any other business to changing market conditions and adapt accordingly. There are other clubs in a similar situation (see Attendances post). My thoughts are that it needs to be fun and entertaining and value for money otherwise the crowds will dwindle further.

No offence intended, but apart from your club house the ground is a truly depressing place that puts off potential new supporters. If non league football is to thrive in Havering both clubs need to convince the council to build a new facility, or the situation will only get worse IMO.

I assume you are referring to both clubs including Romford FC. I see that their average gate is under 100 so effectively yo yo aswell RLN / ESL.

Do they have any funds?

I understand that Aveley have sold their ground with a new one being sorted at Belhus Park.

Its a shame as we missed most of the best opportunity to build crowds/interest we had whilst we were briefly in the connie sth imo

We know there's interest though because we've proven we can pull in decent(ish) crowds for the bigger games.  We had around 700 non-Hereford supporters in the FA Cup.  OK, there'd have been some neutrals but our next home game drew a crowd of 180.  So what happened to the rest?  What made people go to the FA Cup but not the League game?  Was it simply the "glamour" of the FA Cup?

At the end of the day I think it's all about the matchday experience which imo isn't great.  For the loyal supporters this is irrelevant as they'll support the team through thick and thin but I do suspect it has an effect on the casual supporter.  Unfortunately though, apart from playing blinding football on the pitch, there's not a great deal we can do without investment.
