Having read all the pros and cons about Ollie,I thought I'd add my tuppence worth. I thought Ollie was rather fortunate to be kept on from last season's squad,as he was very inconsistent under Steve Bateman,could be a bit of a prima donna and  only turned it on when he wanted to. However,I have been impressed with his efforts this season under Bakes and Unders.  

There's no doubting his footballing ability and he has played at a higher level,so I am a bit surprised we've decided to let him go,regardless of signing Leigh Rumbold [never seen him play,so can't say whether he's a good replacement or not].Also feel at times we need creativity from the centre of midfield, which Ollie gives us.

 

Seb Castello,as good a youth player as he is,really can't count as a squad player ,as I mean, he isn't experienced enough in the men's game yet.

 

My disappointment with Ollie Burgess leaving,is not necessarily the player himself but the quality of player we bring in to replace him with.

I think we/I have been spoilt the last 4 and half seasons with the quality of player Steve Bateman brought in,as he cherry picked name players from above our level.

Steve Bateman's problem was he didn't get value for money,as some of the big signings he made, let him down badly,but not all of them did!

 

We need to get the balance right between having quality players and hungry,keen up coming players.After 5 losses from 6 games something needed freshening up.

I still think we need a quality striker to push Ed Smith and Johnny Dyer.

Scott Harris seems to be short on confidence and needs to start finding the net, as he may become surplus,too.

 

 

I think Ollie was kept on by Bakes and Unders not only because they know Ollie from old but also because he impressed during pre-season.  

 

Agree that we could do with another good goal scorer to compete with our current strikers.

We are hopeful we may have some more news on this and the keeper situation in the next 24 hours....

for me ollie was far too inconsistant, a lot of his passes were wayward and he often lost the ball in awkward places, yes he could score goals , but i think he cost us a few as well as a result of some of his inconsistances. i wish him well wherever he goes, just don't come back to haunt us.

Might as well give my opinion. Gutted. Ollie's a great creative midfielder and if I had to cull the squad by 1 it definitely wouldn't have been ollie. Shame, but only time will tell and I will keep an open mind.

Out of that team last year how on earth can you call Ollie a prima donna he would be last on my list !
