New Ground

Steve may stay around as a fan but he may get tired of not getting anywhere with the ground and the obvious expense of running a club and who could blame him.I hope this won't be the case but circumstances change through life,so who knows.

As for a merger, this has to be a strong possibilty,if we get nowhere with a new stadium. Burnham is an obvious candidate for this, given their financial problems.

Most fans won't be happy me saying this and I wouldn't say I'm enamoured with the suggestion either but as Manor Park Rebel said we need to 'a touch of realism' in how the club is going to proceed,if the new stadium doesn't get built.

Can't ever imagine supporting a team called Burnham & Slough United   :432:

It could be Slough and Burnham something and the inevitably after a time the "and Burnham" would disappear !

As Burnham would hold the ace i.e. ground, I couldn't see the name starting with Slough unless they were deperate.

Also Burnham's debt would become ours.

Loads of valid points and I'm sure every supporter shares your conviction,Brighton Rebel, about Slough staying in Slough.

Unfortunately, those in power don't seem to share our enthusiasm for our club and keep putting obstacles in the way of progress or that is how it appears on the surface.

When we were in the Conference we got regular crowds over 1,000 with a definite hardcore support of 800.

Once demoted to the Ryman Premier we lost a few fans and the hardcore had dropped to around 500.

Ground sharing in Windsor lost a few more and now in Beaconsfield we probably have a hardcore of about 200 give or take a few.

There's no doubt that a new stadium in Slough would boost our attendances, better than any merger but the million dollar question is whether we are ever going to get this new stadium?

As I and others have said, how long are we prepared to wait ? As everyone, currently, is pissed off with this tedious stalemate.

Might get slated for this, but genuinely think we should bite the bullet and go back to wexham park and pay rent there rather than pay rent to play football outside of Slough.

Does anyone know If this is being considered or whether this is a 110% no go, and we will continue to play outside of Slough hoping something moves forward with the new ground (which looks unlikely)

Tristan,

Does Wexham Park still look like this?

Following my last post a couple of weeks ago I have been in contact with the Chief Executive of the Council, had a meeting with the Leader of the Council and I have emailed Lord Nash - in an effort to get some kind of update.

The Chief Executive has replied saying the decision is with the DfE. I met with the Leader of The Council on Wednesday who informed me that a proposal has been put forward to the DfE which they finally hope will now meet with their approval and allow the development of Arbourvale to proceed.

Lord Nash is yet to reply.

I've been looking forward to both those for years! Will be sweet when they do happen. Might even treat myself to a beer.

I'll treat you to a beer if we do that !

Warren, checked out the website for The Bevy. I'm a life member of CAMRA. You and your comrades deserve a good pat on the back for all your efforts in keeping that pub going. I know of many other pubs that have tried co-operatives and community backed initiatives that haven't come close, to what you achieved so far.

Let's hope your enterprise and good preponderance rubs off on the Arbour Vale/Slough Town stadium project ! ! !
