New Ground

Given that the leader of the council and two other councillors are amongst our regular band of supporters I'd say that they are interested in the club, at least from a personal perspective.

The real problem here is that the Arbour Vale site has become politicised. It is no longer a matter of planning policy it goes beyond that.

The delays are massively frustrating and depressing and the longer it goes on the more I hope we have a viable plan b.

The Stoke Poges school at Pioneer House has just been unanimously refused, on highway grounds.

Well done South Bucks, this means no one can ever build a school ever again. Traffic comes hand in hand with schools and very little can be done about it.

Don't know what this means for Arbour Park but I'm guessing they expect it to move to Slough, where the roads are busier and there is next to no available space.

Sorry, but I can't resist this joke from the distant past.

"How long does it take to Stoke Poges ?"

"It really depends on the size of the pitch-fork !!"

Don Juan DeMarcus Was discussed in committee in Feb 2008 This is the expected result Worrying from our point of view is that the school made no attempt to rally any support through parents and supporters Im sure they know they have a done deal Lets hope its not Arbour Vale .

I think it was first muted in the summer of 2007 so 6 and a half years ago.

I do think we have been beset with bad luck. A financial crisis hit focused on the property market and once the market starts to recover we then find the site is being used as a political football.

Yes,you're right,Martin, sometimes makes you wonder if someone has put a curse on Slough Town FC.

Remember Steve Daly saying words to that effect to a few fans awhile back.

The way things are going I can see Slough having to bite the bullet, and returning to rent Wexham Park from the

twit who ousted the club from the ground in the first place !

Would expect that the school will now be built on arbour park. I think for whatever reason we have missed our only chance now.

I think the RULE is a free school has to go into a pre-existing building which Abour park is not. Most of it is not there or safe to enter.

That why I can't understand why Lord Nash is taking his time on giving us an answer.

This will NOT happen as we will only be renting from the Thorns as we are at Beaconsfield, and it'll not be cheep. Another reason I think Windsor is out as they will want something along the lines of when we were there last time ( which was silly amount of money ).

Surely the cost of getting the old Orchard School back into habitable and serviceable use is massive and further adds to the costs already incurred in Stoke Poges? In these austere times it makes no financial sense.

Further to the Windsor point, firstly would they want us there and secondly everything is negotiable and remember this is not Windsor & Eton, it's a new company with different business plans and presumably no debt.

Anyway, we want our own ground, which is what we should focus on.

I can assure you guys, that since the changes at Windsor, you would probably find them far more accomodating than when possibly you were there before.

I hasten to add, that I speak as an outsider, but with many true friends amongst their 'powers that be'  !!

Obviously I'm not privy to the thoughts of the chairman or really understand the huge amount of compications with the ground, or even whether the Stoke Poges thing even affects our proposal....However, it looks likely we will be renting for some time yet.

If that's the case I do really worry about the long term future of the club the longer it remains out of the town. For that reason alone I would like to see us consider Wexham Park if we are to continuing renting and it was within our finances.
