New Ground

The local press is reporting that planning proper officers are recommending that permission for the continuation of the school at Pioneer House be refused  If it is then Arbour Vale must surely be under pressure again  What is the latest the club has heard? In particular what happened to the petition so many of us signed and lobbyed hard for ?

From speaking to various people at games over last couple of weeks I understood the club was as much in the dark as everybody else as to what is going on......

Really hope the Arbour Vale project can again gain some momentum now we are in a new year. The football club is only a small part of what will be a fantastic community project

If that's true Mark its very worrying if the club is in the dark that would suggest its not been very pro-active Im worried because the school itself isn't trying to rally support with parents etc. which suggests they know they have a done-deal

I wouldn't say it's the club not being pro-active. I would say it's the politicians and the council not being pro-active.

How long do they need to decide? How long is a piece of string?

If it was a Tesco it would have been built by now !

What I would like to know is how long this current state of limbo will be allowed to remain before a decision is made on the future of the whole project. Surely there has to be a line drawn in the sand (mud) where the continued lack of progress effectively kills it. Perhaps we have already passed that stage. Also, there must come a point in time when everything that has been done so far under the planning regulations expires and has to be done all over again.

Why change something that, to date, has been a great success?

The last thing I read in the papers was that the free school were highly delighted with their new location at Pioneer House and were lobying to remain there on a permanent basis and were to get a reply to their request this January.

it is south bucks council that are recommending the move to pioneer be rejected, a move that was put to them by the education dept, personnally i think the education dept will push it through as this stinks a little as the local mp for stoke poges has friends on the south bucks council who are doing the people of stoke poges no favours imo. ( of course i am biased)

It seems easy to think that this is all the council's fault and therefore they don't care, but from what I thought it was still sitting on some pile somewhere in the government waiting to be reviewed for the change of land allocation. The club and the council can only do so much chasing if that is the case.

It would be nice to think that the Council have been chasing the application and requesting a date for an answer which I would have thought that they would be entitled to.

Or is it simply a case of softly softly....?

I wonder, when Reading Rebel says it may just be a case of softly, softly, whether that is where the club is going wrong by waiting and waiting and waiting.........

Perhaps another demo at the council offices with Slough fans in attendance, may prompt some action,in an effort to raise publicity again about our plight.

As Manor Park Rebel said on his post, there must come a point in time to start Plan B.

As all the Slough support[i think?] currently feel that we're in limbo.

Fully agree with you This proposal was discussed in committee on 7th Feb 2008 almost 6 years ago! Surely someone knows what has happened to the petition that so many of us signed and promoted amongst friends, relatives and colleagues ?

the last i heard it was going to government and slough council were threatning to take the government to court (well at least the education dept) to court and were going to fight tooth and nail as they were all for the development., but that was a while ago. if you think local govt wheels turn slow national govt takes it to a whole new level.

lads lets wait for Steve doing protest out side council offices don't do us any favers

I'm not saying just turn up and demonstrate.

All Slough fans are fully behind Steve Easterbrook and the board [i hope!]. However,no news on our new ground is getting more and more deafening.

Softly, softly tactics appear to be getting us nowhere.Though,Steve's in the position to answer this, I'm not.

Just seems to me and obviously,a lot of other fans, that progression seems miles off and that politicians and the Council are stalling our every move, and not bringing matters to a head.

How long do we wait for a decision?
