E&E Rich
Always thought they would finish in the playoff positions. Looks likely although with a score of eleven, you have to wonder what team Crawley Down took over. Christmas fixtures provide a massive home advantage for the Islanders. I got a game in yesterday. Harlow Town have a new 3g surface and whilst the ground isn't as impressive as Maidstone United, it's a vast improvement on their old ground at the cavernous bowl that was the Sport Centre. Green Lion
"Always thought they would finish in the playoff positions. Looks likely although with a score of eleven, you have to wonder what team Crawley Down took over. Christmas fixtures provide a massive home advantage for the Islanders." Can we not have credit where credit is due or are people continually looking for excuses as to us doing well. Yes CDG had a new manager and nearly a whole new team but that doesn't mean we didn't play well. We were ruthless. It was no different from when CDG lost 8-0 the previous game. And as for the advantage, how is that any different for when Guernsey are away? We were due to play Redhill away on boxing day before it was postponed and would have had a similar problem in terms of having players available - not to mention the regular midweek aways when Guernsey's squad is seriously depleted. It happens to Guernsey far more than other teams. Plus, before the change of management, the previous manager had commented when the fixtures came out that NYD in Guernsey was not a problem and the whole squad were looking forward to it and planned to spend the night before in a hotel together etc. Still following the Combined Counties league as made lots of friends there, hence why I continue looking at this forum. Pleased to see South Park doing so well.

E&E Rich
Ah Green Lion, welcome back! Where to begin? For starters, Guernsey have been little better than average this year as they have come across slightly more difficult opponents, so it is fair to say that when you score 11 you have to wonder whether there was something unusual at play, something confirmed by SMR above. It really, really isn't all about you by the way, I'd have said this when any team scored so heavily. Secondly, Guernsey are well used to travelling by now, whatever the day. Crawley Down are certainly not. Hence the "massive advantage" comment. I stand by that totally. Brand New Year, same old paranoia!
HKP
Well if CDG had stuck by their original plan and travelled over on NYE then the game would have kicked off at 1pm as planned. GFC changed their hotel and flight booking to suit their new Manager at short notice. It was a strong cross-wind at Guernsey Airport that prevented Aurigny flights from landing and taking off, wind was over the safety limit. Both Flybe and Aurigny cancelled their early morning flights to/from Guernsey back in the summer on NYD morning, hence the need to travel on the previous day. To get over 700 on NYD for a game that was delayed in poor weather was still very good. The pitch is playing very well and as Smudge has already said fair play to Shane Moon. It was a little disappointing to see their Manager complain about the travelling after the club went above what they had to to change the plans so suit the guests. His suggestion that Guernsey do all the travelling is a little disappointing. Wonder what the outcry would be if someone from Guernsey suggested all our matches over the festive period should be at home or we simply shouldn't play at that time of year? Sorry, but you simply have to get on with it.
