behind-the-goal
I've been looking at the points totals required to reach 19th place in 24-league teams (I looked at a total of 17 seasons in the Conference Prem and League 2). The total varies season by season obviously: the lowest was 42, the highest 53. If we're lucky, we'll 'only' need something like 47-50. Currently we've got 13 and there are 24 games left. We might need another 34-37 points to survive, which means we need to start winning every other game from now on. On top of that, we might also need to pick up the odd draw here and there. Not impossible the way we've been playing. We just need to continue tightening up at the back. Keep the faith! COYT!!!
OldTowner
Interesting post. As the season progresses I suspect we will all be doing calculations. Here's mine as off today. 24 games to play 11 v top half 13 v bottom 11 teams 10 of these v bottom 8 with double games v Harrow, East Thurrock, Cray Wand. These 10 games rate as the classic 6 pointers to catch up with them or overtake. Recent matches v Wealdstone, Kingstonian and Margate ( all top half teams ) have been close and all only lost by a single goal. We JUST need that little slice of luck and a few points could have come our way. The overall "feel" within the Club has lifted and we just need THAT win to get things going. Lot of games to go, but clearly January is an important month for the Club. Keep the faith.
behind-the-goal
I meant 20th of course, not 19th. And "24-team leagues" not "24-league teams". Oops!
littlehampton
OT, as we approach the end of the year, and the second half of the season, think everyone is trying to retain a sense of optimism, hoping and praying we somehow manage to dig ourselves out of a big hole, and retain our Ryman League Premier Division status. We have now gone 15 matches without a League win, so we really do need to maintain our recent improvement in performance, start a winning run, and hope for a BIG slice of luck in terms of other results going our way. George Borg has taken on an enormous challenge, he has never been relegated, and he is definitely doing the right thing in strengthening the team, by drafting in players with Conference experience. There are no easy matches in this League. All clubs are ambitious, and a lot of our fixtures will be dog fights against teams either fighting for promotion or survival. Anything is possible, but it will certainly not be easy. Good luck to George and our players.
thecoldend
The next three games are very important. Hendon A Grays Ath H Cray Wand H Win two of them and it'll look much better reading at the bottom of the table... I think the way the team is shaping up there is no reason why not? Even all three!!! In George we trust.

Steph
Yes it can be done. The team is better than it was 2 months ago but Liam, who in my opinion had his best game of the season at Margate, desperately needs a striker to play off him. In the heavy conditions at Margate he got little or no support from the midfield. On one particular occasion there were 3 or 4 Margate players around him as he received the ball midway in the Margate half but all the rest of the Town players were in their own half. We were one nil down and that is no way to secure a point. When Corey came on it was clear that the conditions were not right for him. Tyler also had a torrid time out wide but put in an awful lot of work. It demonstrates to me that the squad is still lightweight with little strength in depth. We need a striker and these are difficult to get at this stage of the season. George could do no worse than consider a lower league prolific goal scorer who may want the chance of a step up. Enfield United
It is a critical period, without doubt, simply because we need to get a win sooner rather than later. As soon as we get that win it will be the foundations to build and kick on from. January is so so so important, as stated above. Yes we do have 6 pointers to play for v's Harrow, ETU in particular as they are the clubs we need to catch, it's no good catching up Carshalton or Thamesmead as we'd still be bottom 4. I'm encouraged by the teams spirit, but still feel that Griffiths, Quintin and Baily are only half the reinforcements we currently need, i stil thnk a Centre Half, left back and a couple of more in midfield is needed to really grab our survival push by it's balls and drive us forward all the above as well as the good humoured good spirited super home and away support should do the trick. But sqeeky bum time has begun.
