Your team versus Kettering

Better. Don't mind losing as much if the side shows a bit of fight and character and we did that today. We probably edged the first half but failed to convert a couple of easy chances. They were much the better side second half and if it wasn't for Jake the scoreline could have been worse. The lads gave it their all but just came up short.

I don't think we can have any complaints about the sending off really - we'll see on the video but it looked clear cut from where I was. Guy was outstanding again today and will be a massive loss. Agree with Clive, our discipline this year is as bad, if not worse than last year. Thought Ryan Parsons looked very good at left back.

Discipline is one that I thought might come up today, however from my point of view most of the red cards have come from tackles, and very difficult to take that out of the game, and I would say is part of football and not discipline problems:

Can you stop Guy tackling?? I don't think so, I would be interested to see the tackle again, personally thought play should have been stopped initially for a foul on Blounty anyway, other red cards Lakey (overturned) Blount (last man with man running across him) Darren Wheeler 2 bookings (silly tackle in a game where the ref killed us) Clurgy (Poor decision from him to react however as caught on video handbags).

We have had more than our fair share of poor decisions recently, and that has been hard to take, believe me.

Gutted today, as the lads gave it there all, and should have been up at half time, with good chances missed.... however we have to go again.

On the positive side, we are hopeful Warren is not at bad and may be fit for New Years Day, Clurgy is back from suspension, outside chance for Eddie and Wooze, Jake has got through 70 minutes (after not playing a 90 in 7 months) Ryan Parsons had a very positive debut.

We also have a central midfielder that we are hopeful of signing Monday, who will come straight into the squad.

All is not lost, we just have to remain positive and keep working hard and the tide will turn.

Really proud of all the players today, just gutted that we didn't get what we deserved from the game.

We were much the better team in the first half and really should have gone in at half time 2 goals to the good.

Second half was a much more even affair and conceded the initial goal on the break from a Guy Hollis throw in.

When we were down to 10 men we were always up against it but still battled on to create a couple of chances.

As for our goal that was disallowed for offside, speaking to some people who were bang in line said our player (not sure who) was definitely onside.

Have to see the video of the sending off before I can make a definite comment but with their players and supporters behind the goal baying for blood, the Ref was under a lot of pressure to give a red card and duly did.

Really impressed with the debut from Ryan Parsons who should be a great addition to the squad.

Again, with all our injuries and niggles cannot praise the players enough for the fighting spirit they showed today.

My MOTM Jake Sommerville.

Onwards and upwards!

COYR!!

No-one this time can say we didnt want it...commitment was high, belief was back and we were at least the equals of Kettering over 90 minutes and we can find a lot of positives--defence was better but would be even more so with Wooz, midfield worked hard and our keeper was superb. Unfortunately we missed chances and it was up front where Kettering were better than us as somehow the combinations of Scott Harris, Dyer and Mendy dont look to have enough firepower in them.......good to hear Ed may be back next game and Jake Parsons may be ready for 90 minutes play. Thought the other Parsons had a good debut in such a tough game.

The one ingredient that cant be supplied by Neil and is luck and we were certainly short of that today and it must be hoped that our luck will actually change very soon

having said all that the inescapable fact is that the six games in December have yielded only 3 points and that just aint play off statistics but the return of confidence and belief will help us get results so that January brings a return of high points averages per game

All is a long way from lost!!

The second half of the season sees us play most of the top eleven at home. We only have Barton, Daventry & Northwood away (3 games) believe in the top eleven.

So if we can make HP a fortress and pick up the points away we need we can have a successful season.

That is the fortress where we have won 6 and lost 5 against the lower teams?

Need to have a major shake up as the current formula is not working - can't keep hiding behind bad luck and injuries - other teams have the same problems.

Disagree that we need a major shake up.

We are tweaking the squad with a couple of quality signings i.e. Ryan Parsons and a new (if the rumours are true) quality midfielder.

With Ed Smith hopefully on his way back I think should be sufficient to get us back on track.

Better team first half, Kettering much better team in the 2nd. Need to convert our chances when on top, but really pleased with commitment and football after Boxing Day - and with 6 players missing - well this would damage any squad. Good to see supporters respond as well to deserved criticism. Only thing that pissed me off was abuse of ref at end of game. Still think we'll make play offs COYR

I'm with GrahamC on this,I'm worried about the quality of our strikers, now Ed Smith is out.

Johnny Dyer is having a lean time since Ed's injury. Should have scored when he hit the post in the first half and is well out of form.

Scott Harris and Tony Mendy are not at the races !

We need a couple of proven goal scorers. We will not win games if we cannot score goals.Take our opponents today,Kettering, their number 9 was a fairly recent acquisition in November and he hasn't stopped banging the goals in since joining from St Ives Town. Kettering forwards were the difference between the sides today.

Thought Jake Somerville was superb today, definitely our MOTM. Ryan Parsons shored up the left back spot well and  I liked the way he got forward, too. Made a difference and should be a good signing.

How is George Short, anyone know?  Took a nasty bang to the ear. Certainly missed him when he had to come off.

On the suspension front, I'm with Neil on this, you cannot compare this season's side to Steve Bateman's team of last season on this matter. Players this season are nowhere near the whingers of previous seasons and I don't

consider the current Slough squad to be a dirty side.

Agree with much of what has been said. Thought the first goal was very harsh - we were better aode first half, Guy won the ball stayig forward created a good chance but we then got hit by a counter attack.

As supporters we need to make sure today's performance from us is the norm too. Much more enjoyable even if the result was disappointing.

Thought the performance was excellent, huge credit to the players. Thought Jake Parsons had an excellent game although clearly a little short of full match fitness he chased every ball and raised a chuckle when he presumed he was the sub when JD went off!

Guy Hollis was immense despite carrying a knock. The sending off from my perspective was harsh as both players jumped in but I am loathe to overly criticise the ref as he was a hell of a lot closer than me. Apologies to Kay as I think I knarked her slightly with my questioning of the stewards there to escort Guy from the pitch.

Must say I was again massively impressed with young Seb. One thing this injury crisis has done is give him lots of game time which will hopeful be to our benefit long run.

Hope everyone walked away with heads held high, our luck will turn and we have the quality to still be involved at the end of the season. COYR

I assume there were a few players out there today who were carrying injuries and shouldn't have been on the pitch. With that in mind I thought the first half in particular  was a magnificent effort and it was hardly surprising that we appeared to run out of steam just a bit in the second half. Having said that it didn't  look like we were a man short after GH got sent off so the work rate was still really high. If we can keep that spirit and momentum going I can see us putting another good run together before too long.

Totally agree with your sentiments Martin and with the new recruits coming in we will be even stronger!
