Ex SSML in the News

Tactically good?? Listen, I've had my fair share of banter with Lee, both on here and in person but tactically astute are not words I'd associate with Lee. He has an excellent ability to get the most out of average players, I'll give him that, but every side I ever saw him manage had two big lumps up top who the back 4 hoofed it up to at every given chance! And if you're reading this Lee, you look like Harry Hill. FIGHT!!!!!

Regardless of the lack of budget, he was never going to get any sympathy from people on here for the way he acted on here in the past.

But let's face it did anyone think he would be a success ? Going from a mediocre SSML Div.1 side to a Southern Orem team was never going to be easy.

Jonno

What a load of "bollocks"

Having two big lumps up front was precisely the opposite to the way his sides played.

His shortcoming was that he wanted his teams to keep the ball on the ground and keep possession.

Inevitably he had too many small skilfull players in his teams (notably at Cranfield) who tended to be outmuscled by neanderthal opposition playing precisely

the way you say he his sides did.?

Unfortunately neanderthal football predominates in league he stepped up into at Bedford.

He must of known the budget when he took the job and again known what players he could take there but can you turn a job offer like that down? Always going to end in tears but he did better than most thought. Yes they were in the bottom 3 but they competed against most teams around them and didnt get hammered by the big guns. Not 6 7 & 8s as predicted. If nothing else it must make you a better manager to be involved at that level for any period of time. Im sure He will be back in a job soon

Name a big lump he ever fielded at Cranfield? Got that very wrong. I dont think he ever had small skilful sides either. Just normal balanced teams that he encouraged to play but with players who werent quite good enough whenever I saw them

I'm sorry, good tactically? Based on what? He tells everyone that will listen that, I'm not sure at this level it's possible to say anyone is brilliant at this or that, the teams with the best players and or biggest budgets do the best, it's much easier to say a manager has a draw on players than he is a tactical genius, if he was that good his teams would do well regardless of the physicality, I mean how unlucky can he be? His team in SSML didnt do well because it was physical and his team tried to play passing footy (not in the games I saw) and then he gets a move to step 3 and he has the same problem? Wow one unlucky guy, I guess someone should give him a crack at the Premier league, because the championship is physical. Spoke to couple of the guys from Bedford who said in trophy game this season they were losing and he brought on a defender?!

Money at Stony Strtford? What?

Phil Smith the chairman was with the guys at Padbury and had hoped to go to Ampthil but for some reason they didn't want him, but they doing great now anyway. Local guy, successful business man and willing to put money in. Would love him at ours haha. He certainly have a playing budget last season.
