Hx 1 Billericay 2

cup of tea

Paokman, your comment about our first half performances is a valid one, albeit at home.

I have wondered why for the last 2/3 years why we start so badly,it's odd because when we are playing badly ,we inevitably go in at half time, things are said and more often than not whatever's said works

We were incredibly lucky not to be losing 3 or 4 nil at half time.  IMO the first half imbalance was more to do with the way in which Billericay set themselves up, the way they played with passion and their physicality.  Ref was a joke for both sides.  Credit to Billericay as if we were in their league position, played like they did in the first half and then held out with 10 and then 9 men then we would have been made up.

Thankyou for your truthful & honest view of the game bridgefan , happy new year & good luck for the rest of the season.

I will maintain, even if my fellow fans don't that we deserved to get something out of that game. It is fair to say that we were definitely second best in the first half and could have conceded more goals.

That's as good as you'll get out of me, I'm afraid.

Well done to Billericay and we'll see what the rest of the season brings. We may end up playing each other in the playoffs.

Ref was inconsistent but that affected both sides.

Cheek - I had my Christmas jumper on yesterday!

I also believe that Billericay will be in the playoffs, I said earlier in the season that you'll pick up. Like us, you know what it takes to get promoted. We see what will happen. Well done on the win.

I disagree with Billericay being good enough to get into the play-offs and agree about their passion in the game yesterday. Some teams just seem to be up for a derby match but will be very ordinary in many other games, which I think is Billericay, so will be surprised if they continue to win matches consistently enough. Looking at this league there are 5 teams including us that are more consistent and play-off or league title bound.

Not sure whether we deserved a result yesterday as the play varied from us, but we were never at our best.

They look vulnerable at the back which I think will ultimately mean they won't get promoted but I think they could sneak into the playoffs. Still a long way to go although I will confidentally predict that Cray won't win the title. As much as it pains me to say it I think that Wealdstone look the most consistant side at the moment.

Wealdstone have a small margin to 2nd, but if any one team below can go on a good run now they can overtake. I think either Lowestoft or Bognor can mount a challenge for play-offs but just don't think Billericay have it in them this season. I wasn't leaving yesterday thinking that was a good Billericay side.

On our second half performance we should of won the game,we were that dominant and more so than they were against us in first half.

My comments last night may seem harsh but in my opinion we were beaten by a side with a third of the talent we have but who out worked us completely first half.

As Wivenhoe says,I don't believe they will be anywhere near the play offs but they will beat a few decent sides In remainder of the season if they work that hard.

Excuses & bitchiness will get you nowhere people ,we won you lost, you can discuss the reasons why till we beat you again ...so let me summarise , you lost to a p*ss poor side with 9 men who wont make the playoffs ....happy new year

Well you are hardly in a great position to make the play offs.

I am not saying you are a p1ss poor side but if you want to use those words then so be it.

There is a reason you are 15 points behind us, the table doesn't lie.

You won the game on your first half performance and our poor performance in the same half.

As poor as we was first half you didn't attack us the same way as we did to you in the second half.On our second half showing we should of won the game comfortably in the end but it wasn't to be

Wretched 1st half, don't understand why we've resorted to hoof ball tactics again, sure we improved in the 2nd,couldn't get any worse, but they were also down to 10 men for around 20 minutes!

Frank and Dave don't work for me,might've done 10 years ago but surely to be a top side you need a bit of creativity, what the hell has happened to Joe May? It was crying out for someone to put their foot on the ball and he wasn't even brought on,is he injured or something.

The pitch didn't help matters yesterday and they were always going to raise their game, but I still feel with the right tactics and formation,we can maintain our challenge for the title.

Up the urchins.

Had we kept 11 players on the pitch, I think we would have got a 3rd, as you committed players forward. Despite all your pressure, I don't recall our keeper having to make anything other than regulation saves.

I don't think any level headed Town supporter would be predicting the play-offs. Yes, it's still possible with a good run but unlikely. Remember our side has almost completely changed from last season and even the experienced Glenn Poole was missing yesterday. It's mostly a young side on a limited budget and is definItely work in progress.

That said, your manager was outsmarted yesterday, and even with extra assistance in the second half, couldn't effect a comeback. I seem to remember at New Lodge, you struggled to a draw against 10 men earlier in the season. I mustn't mention the cup win because as your programme notes implied  it didn't really count as you were not interested in that competition.

Despite all this banter, I hope you go up and fly the Essex flag.  However, I have one tip for your manager. He must stop his players surrounding the referee and trying to get opposition players carded -  they obviously struggle to overcome sides who have players sent off  LOL

Time for everyone to move on I think.

Games between the two clubs always have an edge, and long may it last. Despite the result I enjoyed the Boxing Day game and look forward to the next meeting. It’s always a pleasure to exchange views and banter on the terraces or the bar with the majority of the Billericay faithful.

To all the Billericay fans on this forum have a happy prosperous Urchin new year.

Well said Lord Upminster. The majority of fans of BOTH Clubs are decent folk who want to enjoy non league football. Those that want to go beyond good natured banter are not true supporters and are not welcome at our Grounds.

Good luck and if we play today, I hope we can do you a favour against one of your rivals for promotion.
