The one team you don't want to lose to as an Urchin.

 

Well, the record books will show that Billericay won that game, but it was very obvious which was the better side.

 

Apart from the penalty and what was a great second goal from Sappleton, I didn't really see Billericay getting too many shots on target. Didn't get a clear sight of the penalty but there wasn't too many complaints so that's usually a sign that it was the correct decision.

 

We didn't get going until about 40 minutes in, Billericay adjusting to the conditions better than us.

 

Second half, it was nearly all Hornchurch with Billericay increasingly resorting to more physical and desperate tactics. Both sendings off fully justified.

 

Another day we would have won by 3-4 goals, we should have been out of sight before full time.

 

Ref - inconsistent but both sides benefitted from that on occasions, although Billericay seemed to get more of a benefit than us from where I was standing. Too easy to make the officials the scapegoats though

 

Players not at fault, just one of those games that could of and should of had a different outcome.

 

Great goal from Purcell, lots of hard work from Bremner and a great performance from Alex. Billericay's no 11 looks useful.

 

Waiting for the inevitable gloating from the Billericay fans to be over and done with and then start thinking about Bury.

The second half was better than the first, but time was running out unlike in some previous matches where our play would be enough. We needed some determination today and didn't have enough of it.

 

We should stuff reading the gloats and just move on.

No arguments about the sendings off but I was amazed Hornchurch escaped any yellows thus leading to concerns about consistency. Billericay dominated the first half and should have gone in at least 3 up. Hornchurch dominated the second but failed to score against 10 and then 9.

 

I am sure they are a better side than they showed today - no gloating and good luck for the rest of the season.

 

PS Perhaps your programme notes should not have referred to " an easy win on paper" - there are no easy wins in this league.

I'm afraid I don't agree with you BP I think that we deserved something out of that game. I think we did pick up a booking or two. No easy games in this league, do agree with you there though.

Fair comments from the Blue Pilgrim in my opinion.

We lost the game in the first half and could not do enough in the second.

Why do we have such a bad first half on a regular basis.

Our performance in the first 45 mins today was awful and wasn't helped by the officials.

Second half we improved and the ref seemed to be trying to make up for his first half shortcomings, quite generous to us I thought.

But too little too late. Pitch very heavy and cut up a lot but they had the weight to plough through it and knock us off our stride. Shame the only 4g we have is on our phones, a better pitch the better we play

I think you are misinterpreting what was said in the programme - it never said that we would easily win the game just pointing out the relative form and position of both teams in the league.

Our first half performance was a total joke,an embarrassment,it's a local derby and we were shit, and if people don't like it tough,that's what we were.

We were second to everything ,couldn't kick the ball straight and bottled everything.

The second half we created enough chances to win the game,played like a team and created enough to win but didn't

Got the hump,yes,we don't go 2-0 down we don't lose the game ,I was actually embarrassed to watch that first half performance and forget all the shite that went on after,we played toilet in the first half.

Billericay timewasted??? So what,every team does it especially with 9 men ,do you want them to hand us the points on a plate?

The referee had no influence on our performance ,so anyone moaning about him ,forget it.

We simply let them bully us first half although it seems from various comments on social media that comments in our programme stoked them up!! So what,we should of dealt with it by starting the match the way we started the second half.

I will praise this team to the hilt when they play well but when they play like they did in the first half I will absolutely slate them and IMO rightly so as they are so much better than that.
