Lost to a very strong and good Ampthill side. Our keeper was outstanding.

Ampthill full of well seasoned and experienced players. We are still a working progress with a very young squad. Much better 2nd half as we drew it 0-0.

Yes mate i agree with your assessment of the game, and your keeper was outstanding.Good luck with the rebuilding and please be rebuilt enough to go and beat our rivals LOL

Watched Wolverton v Willen. Very poor 1st half, with Wolverton scoring after about 35 mins. Willen were on top for the 2nd half, but always looked shaky at the back. Once Wolverton scored their 2nd it was game over. Wolverton winger Jesse Waites was the best player on the pitch within a lot of average players at this level.

What a strange game from our players today. We were superb for the first 30 mins they could not get near us and then the rest of the game was a bit of a battle to be honest but we got the 3 points and that's what matters at the end of the day. Another match winner from Conner Duffy today and Bill Healey got his 39th goal of the season.

Nice hospitality as always from Mick Wilkins.

DIVISION TWO

5-0 Wolverton Town v Willen

A report from another Forum:

Wolverton Town 5 Willen 0 (Spartan South Midlands League Division 2) Att: 44 h/c

Having seen the pitch had passed an early inspection, I decided this would do me nicely. Wolverton are in their second season in this league and Willen in their first, so it was a battle of new boys. What the crowd (including a number of away fans, at least one with a Willen scarf) got was a mediocre side against a crap one in a game that was dull to begin with but became more and more entertaining the longer it lasted. It took Wolverton half an hour to score and that was it in the first half, although they wasted a good half dozen easy chances too. The second came shortly after the restart and the third was a comedy header which bounced off an unsuspecting forward and looped over the dodgy keeper and into the net. Near the end the Wolves played like world beaters for three minutes during which time they scored two wonderful goals, but they then resumed wasteful mode and that was that. Had Wolverton used their splendid left winger a little more they could easily have doubled their score.

The New Park is some way short of the home of the previous incarnation of this club, being a three pitch job in Greenleys at the side of the A5 - the pitch nearest the clubhouse was used today and roped on three sides. No admission and a reasonable prog was to be had for a pound.

Enjoyable day out and not too far from home.

Absolutely brilliant day for club yesterday totally outclassed our near rivals while never really getting out of third gear. A bumper crowd 300+ easy. I see gate on mittoo at 245 that must have been for paid attendees only. A great evening a night enjoyed by all too. Need a run now but some tough games as ever coming up.

Mitoo figure is the attendance declared by the club.

Yep I know, which is done by counting money on the gate, doesn't allow for committee members, invites guests (quite a few yesterday hoping to get them on board as sponsors), under 16's, club players spectating and quite a few who manage to avoid the turnstile something I never understand, £4 it's not gonna kill you and it all helps the club.

Indeed but for all FA competitions you add the paying spectators to the complimentary tickets for the total gate.

During my previous involvement at Welwyn Garden City I would do a head count at the start of the second half to get the attendance figure.

One of the guys started doing a head count but gave up. Seems to me our figures are always conservative. Not that it matters. It's just good for club and players to have decent regular support

Levy lost in our non derby game against Holmer Green. Very tight game, could have won the game if we took our good chances.

TringArmy - You were slow off the mark with the report, is it just my imagination that when you win the report is up almost straight after the game but when you lose you seem to drag your feet
