still don't think tony has improved since he was last playing for us, he just does not have the work rate for me, though today he looked the most likely to score, today we seemed to lack ideas, confidence and the will to win, at the beginning of the season we were told it did not matter who was out we had the depth of quality to not notice a regular player missing, from what i'm seeing at the moment that quality looks a little shallow, so come on you rebels lets get working and sort it out, a lot more concentration and self belief and we might get back to our winning ways.

Just a couple of things from my perspective, totally accept all the criticism, as in reality that side should have been good enough to win the game, however they were not, and it was a very poor performance, and that is something we need to look at, and will:

However whilst we don't want to use injuries and suspensions as an excuse, it does have a huge impact on what side we put out today, and I don't care who you are if you are missing 4 of your best players, you are going to be weaker, end of.

Not only are we missing our number 1 and number 2 goalscorers this year in Eddie and Wheeler who are also both huge impact players for us, you also have Clurgy who often sets the tempo in midfield with his work rate, and one of Dave Woozley or Ryan Lake, who between them are probably the most experienced players we have in the squad.

Add in to the fact, Foulser was really ill and would not have played had we even had 1 or 2 others available, Ollie has just recovered from tonsillitis, Tony has played about 2/3 90 minutes this season, and we lose Ben Edwards to sciatica and probably should not have played, shows the problems we had yesterday.

We are not in a position where we can go and bring 4 or 5 players in to cover, so we have to try and use what we have, and the shape was totally down to the "fit" players that we had.

We would have loved to have started 4 4 2 with Jake out wide with Warren, but the truth is Jake is not in a position to be able to start a game at present, and is still recovering from his injury, and we have to go on what Kev and he says with this.

In reality whilst it was a poor game, we effectively got beat from 2 mistakes, firstly Jake will hold his hands up that he has to come for the cross, and at that point we were on top, but them scoring changes the complexion of the game.

Secondly George after giving the freek kick away for hand ball (which was extremely harsh) instead of standing in front of the ball and allowing us to set up (and maybe taking a booking) he let them take a quick free kick from which they scored from (this is something he will learn from)

Obviously we are fuming with the way we have conceded in recent weeks seconds after scoring, and if we are honest that has happened 4 maybe 5 times this season, and we cant really put our finger on it, other than concentration.

We are up against it going into a busy spell, as the injuries do not look like getting better any time soon, with Eddie for the last 3 weeks he felt that he would be available for the next game, but it has just not got better, and Wooze had a set back yesterday in the warm up from his hamstring.

Lakey now will miss 6 games by the looks of it, due to the crazy rules of the FA, where he has to serve the 3 Bedfont Sports games, and as their game was called off yesterday, and they have no game boxing day or New Years Day, earliest he will be back is the 7th of Jan...

We also now have to add in Ben Edwards to that.

So all in all a tough spell, what we need more than anything is your support right now, felt the atmosphere was very flat yesterday, which I understand is set by our tempo, however that is where you guys can help out more by trying to inspire the lads also.

Very bad day for us yesterday, however don't write them off quite yet, it was only 2 and a half weeks ago a win would have put us top of the league, so it is there, however we need to recapture that form and sharpish.

Cheers

Bakes

Nice to get the inside tract,Neil. Thanks for that.

As I've already said on this thread I thought we were inept yesterday but it was obvious that

we are missing crucial players and are very unlucky with all our left-sided players being out

and now we have Ben Edwards with a problem.

Think you're going have to try and bring a left back in[loan] if we can't get our left-siders

back.

Agree with you about the quietness of the support yesterday but can't be used as an excuse

really,as many teams in the division are lucky to get double figures and in the second half,

we were kicking to the main stand and there was encouragement coming from Slough's fans from

three sides[behhind goal/both sides].

Over the years,we've all seen games like that where Slough just can't get going.

Your predecessor's team was no different.Fans seem to have short memories.

Can understand why Adam wasn't the captain we needed yesterday, now you've explained things.

Perhaps we should have chose a vice captain to stir things up a bit.

In hindsight Ollie Burgess may have been that player,as he was in the middle of the park and

is an experienced head. That was the area where we needed to raise our game.

Sadly it never came.

Oh well, these things happen. It's NOT the end of our promotion push, just one that got away.

Thanks for that info Bakes.

Does go a long way in explaining some of the mystery of yesterday's 'too bad to be true' performance.

Agree that the support was very flat yesterday.

Boxing Day, against an inform SYCOB team, would be a good time to 'raise the vocals' and show the players that we are 100% behind them.

COYR!!!

Not sure promotion should be on our agenda any more, because we would be straight back down with these players and I would worry that these managers could not find any better ones.

Personally, I'd prefer to worry about any 'hypertheticals' about players and managers if and when we are lucky enough to achieve promotion.

I stand to be corrected but I thought our management team were initially targeting the play off positions as a realistic aim for

this season. It hardly needs to be said that the top spot is where everyone wants to be, preferably from day one to the bitter

end. Having looked at the league table this morning we occupy one of those play off places and it is exactly halfway through the

season. True, we might not be quite there after the Christmas period but who knows. Unfortunately I can't get the Tardis fired up

this morning to travel forward and find out. Anyway, surely it is far too early to write the whole thing off.

Play-offs are a very realistic possibility and as you say was the managers pre-season target.

As for the title, this is now very unrealistic IMO.

Support will always be quiet kicking away from the kop. 2nd half I think the noise level wasn't bad tbh. Especially as there was little to cheer. Thanks bakes for heads up about parsons, as said before if age was fit I'd have gone 4-4-2 with him in. The 4-3-3 made w Harris (our best creator IMHO) look crowded in. I still think we could have done worse than bring ollie out wide and start castello as a 4-4-2.... But hey easy to make calls after the fact and not when in the hotseat.. As said before this team can unlock any defence, but needs consistency.

Well they would get a shock if they played us every week. You know Mark as well as I do that we are far better than we played on Sat..

I liked Steve Bateman but I really wish we could move forward. The amount of you that moaned about him, now all we keep hearing about is Steve Bateman this, Steve Bateman that, it gets on my bloody nerves.,

Its not fair on Jon and Neil and its not nice, we have two perfectly good managers and a very good football team.

Its the Ketterings and such like games we need win.  Beaconsfield will be a hard game and we need to get behind the team with as much encouragement as possible.

Oh and I also think Hotspur is back again and needs shutting up !!!!!!!!!!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Agree with almost everything you say Sue except that we also need to beat the bottom half teams as well as the top half teams if we want to get into the play-offs.

Also don't think it Hotspur, the comments have been far too positive   ;)

Hi,

Whilst it was overall poor performance, when you get the perspective on the team we had it does place this in context. For the first 20 minutes we looked like we would win comfortably and yes we made a mistake for the first and second goals. There have been some games that we were perhaps fortunate to win too you know!

When it is harder going the players need our backing to lift them and that is far more likely to improve things that silence or moaning. I don't think moaning improves the play at all!

If the outcome of a game was always so certain there would be no challenge.

Yes, let's back the team to win today with our full support!

Up The Rebels!
