Tel
Tweeted from the Non League Step 5 Promotion Applications DECEMBER 19, 2013 by STEVEN CONEY in BREAKING NEWS, FA CUP AND COMPETITIONS, FEATURED, STEP 5 AND BELOW with 0 COMMENTS THE race for Step 4 is on after this season’s hopefuls made their intentions clear by applying for promotion. Step 5 clubs had until Saturday, November 30 to apply with each league having at least one team included and a total of 73 clubs registering. The divisions with the least amount of applicants were the Hellenic League and United Counties League with two each while the Midland Alliance and North West Counties League have eight teams apiece. Sholing, currently flying high in the Wessex League, will be looking to bounce back up to Step 4 after resigning from the Southern League last season due to financial constraints. FA Vase holders Spennymoor Town are one of three Northern League sides to have applied while last season’s losing finalists Tunbridge Wells are one of seven applications from the Southern Counties East League. In The Know
There is normally a list flying around of the top PPG of the team's that have applied for promotion. It would be interesting to see this list. It would still be a surprise to see two teams from the CCL Premier going up especially when there seems to be a number of teams that are floating around the relegation positions from Step 4 ie Ashford Town (Middx), Chertsey Town, Fleet Town, Corinthian Casuals, Guildford City. Here is that list ITK. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqII2SlGRhT7dGQ5ZGJtd0tjY3l2ZW90NHQ2QlFubkE&usp=sharing#gid=0 CCL can only provide 1 of the 14 teams Step 5 promoted this season so PPG wont be used in relation to promotion - it could still have a bearing though on Step 4 "reprieves" which are likely if teams fold at higher levels. E&E Rich
Peter is only updating this sheet once a month at present, but will amend more regularly as the season concludes.
In The Know
Thanks for that GF, I hope all CCL clubs that have applied understand that only one club can go up to Step 4. From what I have heard though, one club are suggesting to their players that finishing 2nd will also go up, they might be disappointed if they don't win the league, which they could do. Anyway always good to see this table updated between now and May.
E&E Rich
Whoever that club are will be in for a surprise as there is no chance of a second club going up this year.
