Windsor v Horley

Fuzzy Royal

Recommended Posts

So, after a busy morning xmas shopping with my daughter, we made our way to the home of football, Stag Meadow.

We turned up a few minutes after kick off (children and crutches are a bad mix!!) and i discovered we were 1-0 up, kicking with the wind. we have struggled kicking with the wind and when Horley scored it seemed almost inevitable, but the goal was disallowed for offside and we then battered Horley and ended the half 3-0 up.

The second half started with Horley attacking, but after five minutes Windsor once again took control of the game and two more goals sealed the game.

So what else, well, disappointingly Jason got himself sent off for 2 yellow cards for what we assume was two separate counts of verbals to the ref. Why do such good players have such pointless flaws?

I would also say the ref had a really good game, he could have easily booked a few of the Horley players early on, but the game wasn't dirty and it wasn't needed.

the other highlight was seeing so many of the junior team players at the game, and hearing them sing in that delightful high pitch that is so oft missing from football these days....Seriously though, should we not be trying to get these kids in every chance we can, they are the future of the support base, if not the players.

Well there is a big game next and we need to show we can do this to the teams at the top as well as at the bottom. We finished the game today without Ben, Laza or Jason, and with ten men still looked most likely to score. I wold say we are ready to take on the top teams, so bring it on!!!

Fuzzy, both of the yellows were for reactions to things the referee didn't see [or chose to ignore !].  The Horley 6 who you can call wise or cynical depending on your viewpoint was sticking his finger up Jason's rear-end for the first yellow and twisting his nipple for the second so it's understandable why he reacted but he should still know better than that but it didn't effect the result.

As for the kids [All from our U11's group] we can't do much more than offer free entry which we do anyway and it's only because they were having their Xmas party in the clubhouse after the game that they were there in numbers.  If you have any ideas how we can attract those numbers more often then please let us know as it's obviously something we would like to see more often !

George Gould wearing gloves? Whatever next!

That was as good and dominant performance as I have seen all season. The passing and movement was of a high standard and the desire to attack wherever possible was in evidence. Whereas Hanworth were exceptionally good opponents, the same cannot be said of Horley. Probably one of the worst sides I have seen for a very long time but that was down to how good we were.

As for the Under 11s making a noise? I thought that it was Micky B on helium!!!

Oh, okay Sec, didn't realise the kids had free passes to get in. I guess we just hope they enjoyed a thoroughly enjoyable day and want to come again, any idea of the crowd?

Still sniggering a bit about getting sent off cos he got his nipple twisted :-). Good thing our players would never get involved in such tactics, i remember one angel we had as a player called Dennis Greene, never catch him doing anything untoward.........

And as for players in gloves, especially in the not exactly arctic conditions yesterday, hmmmm, not sure I approve. Bt as long as he keeps scoringmaybe we can overlook it, maybe...

Fuzzy, accompanied kids [u16] ALWAYS get in free and have done for the last few seasons [apart from cup matches which have to be' by agreement with the opposition'].

Attendance was 220.

I recall one caution when the opposition had a free kick in their own half and as it was a very windy day and the ball kept rolling, Dennis [being the gentleman he is !] kindly put his finger on the ball to allow the defender to take the kick only to pull the ball out of the way just as he went to strike it !   Everyone in the ground creased up except the ref who had obviously suffered a humour bypass and even the defender tried to persuade him not to issue the card..
