Swifty
When will our luck change? Although lacking that bit of guile and quality our teams have had in the past, we did more than enough today to get at least a point. While Aylesbury United had the more direct and clear cut chances for much of the game, we played some really good football, especially after the break, and missed a couple of sitters at the death. The ref had a shocker. First of all he refused to allow our visitors to wear their normal shirts as they had too much white in them, so United took to the field in a change kit of...orange shirts with black trim, white shorts and white socks! Duhh? The ref then fell for a blatant dive by Zack Reynolds and gave Joel an unwarranted yellow and United a free kick which ballooned in the air, giving Tyler next to no chance of gathering it. The ball was subsequently bundled home by Jason Blackett for the 40th minute opener, contrary to the weird timings shown on the Calor League website. Blackett's pace and thumping finish earned him a second goal in the 52nd, but we raised our game and got back in it seven minutes later with a bobbling effort by Elliott from the edge of the box which went through a crowd of players and snuck in the corner. Adam nearly headed an equaliser, then sub Javan hit a post and Joe missed what looked an easy rebound, and then our other sub, Jack Beadle, had an effort athletically cleared off the line. We received some soft cards, plus a red for The Guru in the 83rd minute, yet United keeper Alex Tokaczyk wasn't even spoken to for his blatant time wasting from the hour mark onwards. A really frustrating game because The Ducks weren't much at all, but we gave them too much room (we need to work on our marking down the flanks) and, eventually, we lost to a side we really could and should have tucked away. Russ had his best game this season and was my man of the match, with Joe Bennett running him close with some great insight and incisive play. Special mention to Aylesbury United's impressive following, which took over the bar before kick-off and made it almost feel like an away game for us on the terraces. A decent bunch of folk who deserve to have the team back in their home town. Final mention to Kevchenko, who ruined his film star looks trying to cycle home after the odd drink (was it 13 or 15?) after his works' Christmas party last night. Hope to see you back on the terraces soon, fella!

manurgrate
A very frustrating afternoon, we were the better side after giving Aylesbury a two goal start. We had the chances to win the game, but we didn't. All the good football produced nothing again. This team is so so close to getting results in this league. Ben is certainly getting the best out of them, surely we will soon have a victory to celebrate?
