tonight v Billericay

i thought Cox was as steady and consistent then ever, Dolby is growing in stature and quality as a full back and had a good game,Bodkin had a brilliant first fifteen minutes and a good first half in particular, walsh was dominant in the air,  and worked really hard ; and as we know, Holloway regularly saves Margate from getting beaten more heavily.

i guess we all got our wish insofar as a midfielder scored on his debut-unfortunately it was not wayne wilson, but the guy billericay have taken from welling

both goals scored from on loan welling players, other than that we looked just as poor as them, no shape and no imagination.  but heyho AFC Hornchurch (a team we have never beaten) next.............. :(

To say TV is killing non league football is lazy, fact is if Margate played great football, won the majority of matches, were genuinely fighting for promotion then the casual fan would be more inclined to turn up to games - it's as simple as that. That goes for all non league. Why waste. £10 to stand in the freezing cold to see rubbish football when u can stay in the warm, watch footie on the TV and save £10!! U wouldn't go to cinema to watch a rubbish film or the theatre to watch a rubbish show !!

I say all that talking about the casual fan who may have other things to do and is who the clubs need to get through the turnsyles, not the hardcore fan who go to games regardless.

So why was our last Saturday home crowd 187 when we play decent football and went top of the league??? Whereas 2 weeks previous ,we drew with kingstonian at home who were top in front of double that crowd ?

Simple reason,Tv and top level football.

Don't get me wrong,I am not saying Tv etc is the only reason but for me, the fact you can watch any premier league game at. 3pm in a pub or on your computer is killing the non league game.

Yes,people want to see their local club win ,of course and crowds suffer when they don't but your crowds are way down,as are most clubs and not all of them are struggling
